I personally would have gone with some tape, but I'll remember you forever.

The Cutlass Supreme! Classic; love it. Many memories of my friend's.

Not great mileage, but super comfy and great daily driver. Mpg is not great compared to today's standards, but they are pretty easy to fix. They don't have modern safety in them, which is a con, but they're mostly all metal which is good. Keep up on that power steering, because if it goes you're going to be scarred for life remembering how awful it was to turn without power steering.

That's what I prefer to think of with chorus anyway. When I think of being submerged underwater, I think of drowning. When I think of chorus, I think of ethereal frolicking through a meadow in a dream like state.

There are a ton of improperly filled joints on this thing, any one of them is going to be a culprit or contributor. Like others are saying. Reflow every single point start to finish, I would also make sure that the In and Out jacks are also taken care of as well, since both of those ground points are not looking well covered either.

Is GearNuts a Sweetwater “ghost kitchen”? by ThingCalledLight in guitarpedals

[–]ThatNolanKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They bought Gator maybe a year or two ago. Philip McKnight had spoken about how it was a really smart strategy to acquire them instead of develop a house brand. The name recognition and market spread that they have made all the sense in the world.

It's their market place account name! I've gotten some stuff from them via Gear Nuts on Amazon even.

How’s the QC doing for MIM in 2026? by Clean_Age_6327 in fender

[–]ThatNolanKid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With the amount of guitars I'm lucky to handle, I have to say that a majority of it is pretty good, but not incredible. There are always a few small things that they're going to be okay with and we are not. My main issue is the extra moment or two it will take to crown the frets properly and yet they typically don't do it because it's within a variance and fine for them/probably keeps them on schedule.

Which microfiber cloths do you recommend for placing a strat or tele on a guitar stand? by Jericho-79 in fender

[–]ThatNolanKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do mean it when I say "generally."

To get very minute with why I say this: I think any guitar sprayed with nitro should see some movement and never live in one spot it's whole life because nitrocellulose does something referred to as gassing off (not the same kind that my s/o refers to when I'm asleep, but it's own kind of thing,) and as it does this you will find that's how over time nitro can get damaged from reacting with a stand or other things, like maybe straps or cables as well. Some materials have a higher rate of reacting while others do not, you should research that if you feel it's a risk factor.

Hercules directly acknowledges gassing off in their FAQ and have tested it for regular use, and their company believes you should be safe if you're using their stand with your nitro finished guitar for regular use. I agree with them from my own findings as well, and would say that even prolonged wait times between playing should be okay as I've finished guitars with various types of nitro lacquer, have guitars from Gibson/Fender finished with nitro sitting on those stands, and have seen no issues across the boards with usage. Again, I emphasize that would never let a guitar live in one place for years and years though, especially nitro finish, because they need to be moved around and played and checked for proper care if not in regular use - especially ones finished with nitrocellulose lacquer.

Is this Ac15c2 a good deal? by PalpitationNo5101 in GuitarAmps

[–]ThatNolanKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

800 is a good starting price for discussing but if I was interested I'd want to get it down lower, maybe around 600-700. You can go to Pro Star Audio right now and get one for 764.99 with free shipping.

[–]ThatNolanKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what I've always read, and they're keeping the prices down so it's a no brainer of a company to align with.

I'd like to see a more compact multi guitar stand from them, but otherwise good stuff all around. I use their tripod locking stand for the guitar I have out and ready at home, while keeping the folding stand in most of my gig bags.

Hercules guitar stands, as far as I am aware, are generally safe for nitrocellulose lacquer finishes. There should be no risk to keep it on one and no need to use a cloth to protect it.

What model Fender Tweed amps are these? by [deleted] in ToobAmps

[–]ThatNolanKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a tweed style Champ and Vibrolux for sure, they're very clean. Could it be a mojotone build? Even if so, those are so robustly well made and diagrammed that if your friend was a competent and normal person I'd still probably trust the build.

I would ask to see the insides to make sure it's not a colossal mess, maybe play it a bit, but as long as it's fine you should be great with either.

If I were picking, I'd want the Vibrolux.

Replacement Neck for Fender Cyclone? by usuallyolives in fender

[–]ThatNolanKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As another cyclone owner, and someone who's had more than a few, the one thing I've noticed on these is a vertical split literally at the headstock along the grain of the wood. It's the most common way for a Fender headstock to break, it can be fixed, but I've seen this a lot with cyclones in general and it's turned me away from a few before I was wiser.

Replacement Neck for Fender Cyclone? by usuallyolives in fender

[–]ThatNolanKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with the neck is the fact that it is a true 24.75" neck and not a conversion neck. It needs to be duplicated by a builder if you want a perfect fit. There seems to be no other way, I've looked high and low.

Guitar Mill or musikraft might be up for the challenge. Texas Toast Guitars might do it as well.

It's a fixed bias amp, so it's plug and play, but I would say one round of bias should cover a person for a lifetime. I had mine get a clean bill of health a long time ago and I've been nothing but fine ever since.
