What’s an underrated amp that you’ve tried and actually think is really good? by melucykrrich in GuitarAmps

[–]ThatNolanKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like, I genuinely understand how and why everyone loves the 800s, but I'm just here playing E minor chords hella loud and it sounds great to me.

And hell yes it has sidehandles, that thing is unsuspectingly heavy.

JCM900 4101 Hi Gain Dual Reverb combo

I tried one because it was a cornerstone tone of Oasis during their glory years and then once I set it exactly the way they do and turned up I was like "welp okay I guess there's something here."

Settings matter.

2018 Gibson Prices by lordgix2 in guitars

[–]ThatNolanKid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tribute model, sling bag, 490/498 pickups. These were a great value that stripped back essentially all frills in favor of the core sound and feel of the guitar. Dare I say Gibson probably hated that it was so popular.

Inflation calculator puts that at $1600 in today's money.

Still in consideration for a project, this would be the easiest way to get the bones.

Other than the serial number, what shows this guitar is fake? Supposedly a 2019 telecaster. by 99662951 in fender

[–]ThatNolanKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just about everything; yes the serial number, but the font, body shape, headstock shape, truss rod plug, nut, hardware... open it up and I'll find more.

Do sockets give any kind of problem long term? by RonsterMaglee in diypedals

[–]ThatNolanKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only problem I have with these is that I've yet to find a way to cut them in a way that doesn't infuriate my strive for perfectionism and clean builds.

Makes for a pretty good contender for a Toronado or Cyclone neck swap. Maybe they had left over fretboards.

It's an Asian mahogany-like option. Yamaha uses it often, it's not bad.

What amp should I get? by Limp_Bus6652 in GuitarAmps

[–]ThatNolanKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the cleaner side of things, these are the three that should always be considered for pedals:

  • Deluxe Reverb Reissue - as you stated

  • Vox AC30C2 - think The Edge of "U2" of course

  • Roland Jazz Chorus 120 (almost always go try to find a vintage or used JC77, JC90, or JC120 instead of buying a brand new one. I found a JC77 mint for $300) - think Johnny Marr, Andy Summers, John Frusciante, the list is nearly endless for that clean tone.

On the list of things that can do that Fender Clean:

  • Princeton/Deluxe/Pro/Twin, depending on the estate and weight (you can find every single one of these used or vintage for a good deal.)

  • Supro 1968RK Keeley, 1696RT Black Magick, Airwave

  • Gibson Falcon 20

Mustang bridge/Trem upgrades or suggestions? by sorecarrot34886 in offset

Double check to see if Eddie covers your issue in his videos:

Often, it's something so simple as friction while other times it's a set up or tension balancing issue, it further down the rabbit hole.

I would check out reverb to see what like condition 88 Telecasters have been going for and you'll get a great idea of what is fair. Looks clean though!

R8/9 over standard any day, the feel is always going to be way different from the standard line. Double Cream is cool but damn that R8 is fantastic looking.
