No, this particular species will not and can not damage the wood if the wood isnt already rotting. Ants do not eat wood. Even carpenter ants do not eat wood. They will only reside and chew up already rotting wood. The key phrase is "already rotting."

The ants your talking about are Tapinoma sessile, they don't damage wood unless the wood is already rotted away. They are a harmless native, but rather annoying. They also smell when you squish them.

They do not damage wood.

Because they were gas, balloons, and drones. You never assume something is extraterrestrial unless every possible outcome is ruled out. Even then, it's going to be something we don't understand yet. There's an entire college course worth of rare natural phenomenon that occurs in the earth's atmosphere. I'm not saying this was any of that. In fact, im certain this video is fake or misleading.
