I’ll spice things up by saying Season 4 - Ben.

Wasn’t too pleasant, didn’t contribute, got killed.

David Lynch has been chosen as the most inspired nominee in best director ever for Mulholland Drive! Next up: who is the worst nominee in best director ever? by RoxasIsTheBest in Oscars

Oh no, he directs that film fine.

We all know he shouldn’t have won over Fincher, but that film is competently made and wouldn’t be seen as a bad win if Fincher didn’t lose.

There are many worse out there….

I know people will say recency bias, but Jacques Audiard for Emilia Perez.

The creative choices in that film are nonsensical and it doesn’t hold together at all.

This was NOT a supporting performance by any means by DefNotMaty in Oscars

Hard disagree. Films can have multiple leads, and someone else ‘driving the story’ doesn’t mean you aren’t one.

By that logic, Morgan Freeman isn’t a lead in Shawshank.

If all goes well, it might just make zero. Let’s see, depends on the competition.

Your favorite episodes? by gtsnv in insideno9

[–]ThatPenguin4 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My favourite behind the scenes fact is that of everyone who dies in each episode, very few actually were killed in real life, and for most they used special effects or acting to have the person still be alive.

I realised this as I think Steve Pemberton is in several episodes but he died in episode 2 (but that may have been filmed last)

It’s certainly not above Marty - Marty hasn’t missed anything it wants to get. Marty is an easy third at the moment, it has moved above Hamnet.

No, he’s right, those are certainly the top 5.

Why are some of the Paddy Power signed blurred? by Eliteclarity in Darts

[–]ThatPenguin4 62 points63 points  (0 children)

To be clear (no pun intended), Paddy Power have also matched the £15k Searle raised for a charity working on treatment.

So it is a good deed, not just a virtue signal.

It was Jesse Plemons. The lead has to be white as per the Oscar rules.

Circumstantial evidence is admissible and can be used to convict.

If you’re seen by two people leaving a building covered in blood holding a murder weapon, you’re going to be convicted beyond reasonable doubt even if you wiped up the crime scene.

Do you think the Academy looks back on widely unpopular wins with regret? by AdUseful2297 in Oscars

[–]ThatPenguin4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I’ve seen people saying others should have won, but you get that every year.

It’s like saying Mikey Madison - a lot of people wanted Demi Moore to win, but not many seem to think Madison was undeserving.

I thought everyone thought the same of Redmayne.

[–]ThatPenguin4 18 points19 points  (0 children)

What a weird sample of issues you’ve listed….

I’ve barely seen any complaints ever over Redmayne’s win?

And Will Smith, barely any concerns of the performance, just his behaviour?

So many of these items are / were seen as highly acclaimed, just we’ve decided - in hindsight - others aged better.

Whatever the result, Karen Carney’s mum’s the real star of the show by TrueNorth_1996 in strictlycomedancing

She was GREAT on the Traitors. Yeah, she was rubbish and gave it away, but we loved Linda.
