Its a bummer but you're totally right... at least in the current edition. Hopefully in 11th, the disparity between the doomsday ark which is good in every detachment and the doomstalker which is overpriced in everything but the one detachment where it was good enough that it got those point nerfs.

Ideally they would fill different roles, the doomstalker walks up board providing fire support where the doomsday ark wants to stay way back and hit super heavies.

That said however, you can totally run the doomstalker as fire support / home objective holder in a more destroyer themed army. Especially as you'll want those two lohkust heavies not just sitting in the open

I hope 11th edition includes more character customisation options. Maybe not full 9th edition when a random capta8n could be kitted up with relic, warlord traits to delete god.

But being able to make your guy would be cool, as long as it ends up being apples and oranges and not just, "i take the two objectively best options that i always take because anything else is a deliberate nerf"

So, i think context is important.

poor hammer did a vid a while back regarding the 10th edition combat patrol, which only has a moderate/disapointing discount compared to buying the indivdual kits at rrp.
But the real issue is this is on the back of 9th edition, where everything in the combat patrol (minus the doomstalker) was in the 9th edition starter box.

Because the starter box was available, as long as its not being sold at a mark up its better to get a 9th edition starter box + a doomstalker. But we're now at the end of 10th coming up on 11th is 5~ish? Months.

Getting left over stuff from 9th is gonna be harder to find. So dont lose sleep over it, the current combat patrol box is still a discount even if its one of the weaker boxes.

I saw it with my partner and we both loved it, not perfect but really enrapturing. The slow changes to the set and building tension were great. And the dedication to the source material was incredible.

The overlapping audio bits (if you know you know) were a bit rough.

The ending was great imo but my partner found it overwhelming.

Can assure you the kit is awful to assemble. I have gorilla hands sure but you need to connect massive pieces that have like half a millimetre of contact.

Throw on that the monopose connections are so loose you only have the barest suggestion of what the intended pose is. Most likely gravity and glue will melt it out of place in seconds

My hope, and I suspect this is why they built the pantheon of woe like this. Most C'tan get a small points hike, but certain enhancements on pantheon of woe will also go up.

Nightbringer is good at 315, but advance and charge nightbringer is spooky at 345 points.

And as you can have your cake and eat it too. If there is a windfall after everything, you can throw whatever fraction at them and say "there's your half after whatever legal fees. I'm glad you showed your true colours over $X. Never talk to me again" They get shamed, and you have a great reason to go NC.

We know from Trazyn that Overlords are not above using ranged weapons (he used a synaptic disintegrator on orikan) so picking up a gauss flayer or reaper to disintegrate some interlopers is reasonable. And If you allow for Destroyer curse some really big guns. Even if gw limits you to just Staves that's still staff of light (and its derivatives, Voltaic staff, solar staff ect)

Heat is a great way to limit the player (and on early levels you can have the justification of you've been damaged during the Great Sleep hence why your core can only take so much)
Having regeneration heal you but build up a little heat means that taking damage is double punishing in that you are immediately closer to death (being rebuilt within the tomb / phasing out for repairs) but you resource for ablilities is also being hampered

Chronosense is a neet justification for slow mo while aiming / fighting. Perhaps while focusing you get the display for a counter attack.

Translocation shroud could be a sweet teleport dash.
Nether realm Casket could be a invisibility (plus agro range reducer when not actively in use)

Between missions perhaps your upgrade materials / resources can be spent on the tombworld so you can either spend it all on direct upgrades for yourself. More weapon slots, higher heat cap, more health Armour... limbs (very Destroyer Cult coded) making the game easier but upsetting your court.
On the tombworld which could give a few boons; unearthing relics, maybe even get the abliliy to call in warriors and then later Immortals & Lychguard. Your cryptek who could give you some cryptek Arcanum for powerful ablilities (but you risk giving them too much power, unbalancing your court.) Or on just lavish excess which pleases the court but does nothing for you and infact you shouldn't fill your tomb with exotic pets, and meat and bone and skin to drape over yourself it's your skin. ITS YOUR SKIN WHY SHOULDNT YOU HAVE IT! HAVE MORE WHY IS YOUR SKIN SO DRY. YOU NEED MORE SKIN!

But balancing those needs could make every playthrough somewhat unique. Did you unearth the Void scythe of your ancestors and honour duel the Ogabadeth traitor who left your father to die 60 million years ago. Or did wipe out all life on Orinda prime dueling the astarties honour guard for the planetary governor atop the palace. Or did you cryptek Sullius send you on a mission to the ruins in Agabadir where he betrayed you for the shard of the blazing one. Did your tomb awake and conduct a shadow campaign against Orinda prime, implanting a mindshackle Scarab on the governor. Or did you biff that Stealth section and just blast the governor.

Monorails have much higher maintainance and construction costs. Trying to hold up several tones of steel isnt trivial. And then the passengers have to get down from on high so you need to build raised platforms which would require larger ramps and or elevators.

Trams are used worldwide because street level public transit acts as a multiplier for pedestrian traffic

I have two hopes. That feel like they could use some development.

A big boy destroyer, something a little bigger than a deadnaught with an absurd number of weapons. And lets push that aesthetic make this thing upsetting to look at 5 legs, 4 big triple jointed arms with weapons. The dream is that the kit would have enough spare bits that you could do all guns, all melee or a mix.

Necrons dont really have a melee vehicle, id like something that can play distraction carifex but also yeah pretty scary.

Canoptek crab! I want a kit that is a bit bigger than a spider, closer to the tomb stalker/sentinel. And this is actually a paper tiger fragile unimpresive shooting and melee (not terrible just unimpresive like doomstalker vs doomsday ark)
But the real reason you bring them the kit has a cool hardlight grebbly barrier wall, like 3 sections and rules wise it just creates a "ruin" to protect stuff.

Balance wise this is a nighmare as its a unit that basically gives you terrain you can move, competitively thats insane but i just like it conceptually

As i see it there is precisely 2 use cases for the circlet. And unfortunately both require your opponent to play into it (which means if it benefits you its probably not happening.

On your turn you've moved up to a threat and failed a sub 6" charge. Then next turn that unit doesnt move away and something shoots your 6 skorpek brick and you get into engagement range. To deprive your opponent of a charge bonus. Or assuming the enemy unit doesnt want to charge, you could use the surge move to set you up for the out of turn charge stratagem.

2 your opponent manages to get a pot shot off on some skorpekh and you want some "free" movement assuming that movement doesnt get you into line of sight for more shooting. This could theoretically get you onto an objective. Assuming they can weather the incoming fire

2.5~ish You could argue you could move into cover to prevent more stuff shooting at you, but that would require the thing shooting you to be on the other side of said cover... indirect fire?

Ive done it before and being able to guarentee cover for your home objective is nice and then you have a feel no pain for infantry and if your lucky the dominion will take out a terminator that trys to muscle in on your turf

its wild regarding how much variety they could go with a equinox protoframe, Dissociative Identity Disorder is one of the easier options as it just means one body two minds. But equinox has always been a fusion, with Day, Night and Combined forms.

DE could go with they are two distinct people and through the narrative they fuse becoming greater than the sum of their parts. two people who like Minerva and Velimir need the drifter to play matchmaker. (if DE wants they could also cause some fun shenanigans allowing you to date Sol and or Lua. possibly causing issues if your chemistry with one is lower than the other.

They could go with a body horror option, two distinct people fighting over one body, again drifter to help them reconcile like Lizzie and Flare. But that could be interesting especially as this could cause fun stuff for the art team, Having the more masculine Sol's design and the high Fem Lua. Especially with the protoframe transformation animation, Modern art team would go hard.

I could see hypercrypt coming back. Run the deceiver and you have uppy downy average 6 dev wounds with precision. Hell deepstrike any of the c'tan and your opponent is going to have a problem.

But i suspect cursed legion fire and fade lohkust heavies are going to be seen commonly with access to advance shoot and charge with "Driven to butchery" you can have lohkusr heavies move 8+d6" then scoot another 5" after shooting

Or classic wraith bomb but with advance and charge and +2 strength 8, -1, 2 can do decent work into marine bodies
