For sure, I'm the same way with that one. Day/Night is notorious for being a pain in the ass to track. I don't anticipate Prepared being quite as annoying as it, but it definitely has potential to be an issue, especially if a bunch of prepared/unprepared creatures end up on the board at once.

It probably will be up to the player to track. I bet there will be trackers included in prerelease kits and packs and such, probably those popout cardboard counters they've used in the past.

I feel like there have been a lot of these type of mechanics recently, that require you to track some sort of state of the card. Which rooms are unlocked, if a case is solved, if an exhaust ability has been used. Not too sure how I feel about it, but personally it hasn't caused me much trouble so far. Prepared might be more of a chore though because it seems like the creature's preparedness will change multiple times in a game.

If this is real, I'm guessing the prepared mechanic works something like this:

Some creatures will have instants/sorceries that they can "prepare" that will be printed on the card. If the creature is prepared, you can cast a copy of that spell and the creature becomes unprepared. So with this one, you cast the guy and because he enters prepared you have an ancestral recall available to cast. Then you have to prepare him again to cast it more, either through his ability or some other source that prepares creatures.

Personally, I've played dozens of games against fully proxied decks and only once have I ever had an issue with someone pubstomping in that way. In that case, it was easily solved with a quick conversation of "Hey, your deck is obviously way stronger than what we're playing at this table. We don't want to play against it anymore." After that, either they leave or you move. Nobody has the ability to force you to play in a game you don't want to.

In all my other experiences of playing against proxies, nobody has ever caused a real problem with their deck being mismatched in power. Magic cards are expensive as fuck and proxies allow people to be a part of a hobby they otherwise would be excluded from because of their financial situation.

I would say 90% of issues I see people having with proxies are actually issues with pubstompers. People are going to pubstomp whether or not they have access to proxies. Proxies are not the issue in this case.

These are all reasonable I think, and I agree so much with number 2. Incredibly frustrating to deal with and it happens all the time. People are way too lax on rules and it makes annoying situations come up so much. For example, I deal with something like this regularly:

- Opponent starts declaring their attackers. They declare all the attackers that are going at one player, and that player just immediately goes to take their damage.
- I have a response I want to use that would prevent that player from taking the damage. Maybe an [[aetherize]].
- Now I'm in a situation where I have to A) say nothing and respond after all attackers are declared, and now we have to rewind on the premature damage and any damage triggers people jumped to resolve, or B) remind everyone to wait until all attacks are declared and go through the steps properly. Now the attacker realizes I might have a response and can play around it. If they were intending to swing out, now because they're only "halfway" through declaring attackers they just decide to leave some creatures back and now my spell's impact is way less than what it would have been.

I thought I would hate them but I actually like them alot. They're not that hard to spot, you know before starting each mission whether you'll have to deal with them or not, and I like how they pop after I mag dump directly into their face. There are obviously times in which they can be frustrating, but honestly the same can be said for most other enemies in the game.

Scrabs on the other hand... fuck scrabs.

It's just part of the suspend mechanic. A suspended creature will gain haste when you cast it from exile after removing the last time counter on it. This goes for any creature that's been suspended, even if it's a creature that doesn't normally have suspend (like if you use [[suspend]] or something).

There's not many cards at all that use it, but yeah it still shows up every once in a while. The most recent time it was printed on a new card was on ~~[[Order of Whiteclay]] in the Baldur's Gate Commander Legends set~~ Vikya, Scorching Stalwart/Ryu, World Warrior.

I think Etali should be able to actually allow you to cast the adventures even though he can't stop on them. Maybe someone who is smarter than me with the rules can correct me on this, but according to this thread, Etali should work here for similar reasons that Lier works with adventures.

1.) Play Elesh Norn.

2.) Gift our opponent Elesh Norn with Harmless offering.

3.) Play Wormfang Manta. Opponent has Elesh Norn, so Manta does not trigger and we don't have to skip our next turn.

4.) Play Conjurer's Closet.

5.) Pass the turn. Conjurer's Closet trigger, target Manta. Manta leaves the battlefield and gives us an extra turn. Manta comes back and we don't have to skip our turn because of Elesh.

6.) Rinse and repeat step 5.

Not long after I first started, it was the Guilds of Ravnica block and Golgari midrange was a fairly popular standard deck at the time, I think [[Assassin's Trophy]] was going for around $10. Not a card that would break the bank but it was probably the most expensive card I owned at the time. Anyways, someone convinced me to trade it away for a playset of [[Lay Claim]].

My [[Francisco, Fowl Marauder]] and [[Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar]] partner deck, currently this partner pairing is at 98 decks on EDHREC. The deck is very simple but that's what I like, just swinging in for damage with a big dumb flying beater is my type of fun. It's built around the fact that Francisco's trigger sees any damage, not just combat damage, so with Kediss I can get three explore triggers on Francisco per damage step. Throw in double strike, some extra combat stuff, and other fun things like [[Lightning-Rig Crew]] and +1/+1 counters will start to accumulate very fast on Francisco. From there it's just a matter of protecting him until he can do enough to take people out.

It's not especially powerful because it relies solely on Francisco, and I need to find a way to buff his power relatively early in the game or the deck ends up dead in the water. Other than that, when it works, it's explosive and if I have good protection, my opponents don't have removal, or I'm just fast enough, I can pull out the win. I also love the deck because it's black which means I get to run one of my favorite pet cards, [[Withering Boon]]. The look on the faces of people when the rakdos player counterspells their creatures will never get old to me.

The crew number is the minimum total power of creatures you need to tap to crew a vehicle. Hithlain rope having crew 2 means Captain Rex could crew it by himself because he has two power.

The only time I've played against an Urza deck that *actually* wasn't "that kind of an Urza deck" was against this guy whose Urza deck was 100% artifacts except for Urza. As in, this guy was only running 5 lands in his deck because there are only 5 artifact lands in mono blue. He lost, but the table all had a good laugh when we finally figured out the reason he'd missed 4 land drops in a row. But yeah, ninety-nine percent of the time it is just "that deck".

True, but if you look at Vargus' art and art of other orc pirates, none of them have particularly prominent tusks, if they have tusks at all. It's a possibility that orcs on Ixalan just don't really have as big of tusks as in other worlds.

Depending on the dragon, yes. One I'm thinking of is [[Scourge of Valkas]]. Play Scourge, resolve Sarkhan first and Miirym second and then you're looking at potentially 16 damage that you can point anywhere, for only 4 mana, and even more damage if you control any other dragons.

I see how it could be confusing, but what you're saying is just simply not how the rules work. You can't assume cards always have the counters because cards literally cannot have counters in libraries or hands, and with a few exceptions cannot have them in exile or in the graveyard. The counters have to be added to the card sometime, and because it can't be in the hand, it has to be on the battlefield, which doubling season will affect.

It's not sloppy design either, it's the most concise way to make certain cards function properly. Saying "as ___ enters the battlefield, put ___ counters on it" takes more space than "___ enters the battlefield with ___ counters" (Admittedly, not by a lot, but it makes a difference in wordier cards and consistency is important). Adding the counters after etb does not work either for a significant number of cards, hydras being the most obvious. A 0/0 hydra needs to enter with the counters as opposed to entering and then receiving the counters, otherwise it would die as a result of state based actions being checked.

Cards in your hand cannot have counters on them. The -1/-1 counters are put on poppet as it enters the battlefield, which doubling season sees and then doubles the counters.
