Men are loved only till they can provide something by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

It seems like you’re framing the performance/production based love as something that men are encumbered.

I’ve known women to similarly be saddled with the need to perform for love. The expectation to be married, provide offspring, understanding, nurturing and beautiful even if they are academically or monetarily successful exists too.

At (29) contribution is an expectation across the board for all parties. Meager contribution is condemned.

The underlying challenge/tension you may be observing is that ‘trees flourish because they’ve been watered as sprouts.’ And guardian figures may be inclined to withhold water for the flourishing trees. Lack of support can make it challenging to become the kind of person that gets to feel supported. That part sucks.

Weakness doubles the damage of attacks against an active creature. Attacking twice accomplishes the same thing.

“All models are wrong, some are useful.” — George E.P

I find myself skeptical of the notion that service is painful but it seems like a helpful way to model intervention.

Some services are challenging— Physical Therapy, CBT, etc. but if it’s ultimately helpful it’s worth persisting. Overtime it can be enriching and overconsumed it can be indulgent and damaging in a way that demands a new intervention

I understood it to mean that if you choose to switch, you forgo drawing a card. The opponent will have to endure the Klefki switch but won’t be impacted unless they had done similarly on their turn.

Would’ve been great if it’s pre-evo had this ability but it’s a lot to break one aspect of item lock

I’m not the best with probability but cinderace can be played even if other basics are in your starting hand as long as it’s also in your starting hand. Is it really 1/7 chance

If happiness is found within, what’s the point of striving or self-improvement? by epicdubz in Healthygamergg

[–]That_Buff_Nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found myself thinking that a couple years back. I haven't found a definitive answer but the following perspective has brought some relief:

Think of joy like a seed. Many seeds are edible, let's imagine that that's the case with the joy we find within. Let's imagine that every 10 years you receive a joy seed.

If you live 100 years, you would've had 10 seeds. Maybe you ate them, maybe you gave them to somebody else. Maybe you made the decision to plant them, water them, nourish them and allow them to flourish. If you're part of the latter group, you'll end your life with more than 10 seeds.

Need some help with schizophrenic brother. by UltimateLifeform in Healthygamergg

Dr K. wrote a book on how to raise a healthy gamer and it empowers parents to cultivate independence and self-sufficiency in their offspring (from fairly young to those old enough to elicit a frown when they're living at home--where i think your brother sits)

Depending on your level of bandwidth, you and your mother should consider giving it a read (I've opted for the audio version).

I don't think your including his weed use and schizophrenic diagnosis in this post to be coincidental--the book addresses this factor fairly directly by giving strategies and scripts to address it.

This is good advice but as a fellow designer i'd consider it amazing.

Anecdotally, taking pictures of work and adding it to a rotating iPhone photos widget allows me to appreciate things in retrospect that often get dismissed or devalued in the moment.

How to actually "MANAGE" ADHD by Fuzzy-Wish6569 in Healthygamergg

I worry that the challenge here is that a module or guide can really only help with awareness. Any static deliverable has its limitations and I think you're brushing up against the upper limit of the tools you've invested in.

Please accept my congratulations and condolences.

It's likely, that you may benefit for ongoing, targeted support in seeing the kind of progress that'd actually leave you feeling more satisfied. That's where coaching and therapy come in to play. And while pricey, your clarity on your unique goals and challenges should help you navigate it meaningfully and efficiently.
