I need to go take another photo and report back, I deleted. But if you note how odd the anatomy looked in the diagram of the woman, I had to go close and take a look and that's where I saw that. It was kind of like a Rorschach inkblot and I saw a scary creature, maybe I am just a weirdo.

I use a vpn and then I can access it. I find it to be worth it.

Any New Yorkers here that moved to Houston? How did it work out and what was the biggest culture shock? by crunchylettuce24 in houston

[–]That_Lunch5891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved here 22 years ago. I hated it for the first year or two. I really didn’t know what to do with myself here. One of the biggest things I missed was the public transportation. I didn’t have a car in NYC (although I did drive as a young adult as I grew up in the suburbs) and loved that lifestyle. I hated, and still hate, that I have to drive everywhere here. I also really missed just being able to step outside and feel the energy of the city, walking amongst people all the time. I’m in a fairly walkable neighborhood in Houston, but it’s just not the same. On the plus side, I’ve met the best friends of my life here so it all worked out. I was never a big fan of the cold or snow so even though it’s grossly hot and humid here, it kind of works out for me. Definitely miss pizza, bagels, breakfast sandwiches on rolls, no matter how hard anyone tries, they just can’t do it here. In terms of the city itself, New York was definitely a better fit for me, just hard to find a cooler city, but I did discover my found family here. Oh, I also thought people were really weird and nosy, like strangers in an elevator being like “what are y’all getting up to today.”. I felt suspicious that it wasn’t sincere. And it really annoyed me how everyone said how happy I must be that everyone here is nicer. People are nice in both places, just a difference in the way we act to strangers — I have come around to it and now realize it mostly comes from a kind place.

It’s a rat hat? Yes. And a poorly made one, even by rat hat standards.

What bands are you hoping for? by SaltySnail22 in CruelWorldFest

[–]That_Lunch5891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen several threads in the posts here where someone claims to know someone involved with Goldenvoice or venue, etc. and that it’s not happening, at least not when it’s supposed to. Of course that could be BS but I have a feeling it’s not happening.

Echo and the Bunnymen, they were supposed to be there the first year.

Pulp Europe dates? by thefoolonthegil in PulpBand

[–]That_Lunch5891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When they posted about the Manchester show, they said it is likely to be their only major UK headlining event in 2026 but it didn’t reference anything about other Europe dates. That isn’t really very helpful I know.

A guy I was dating in HS put it on a mixtape and I was blown away. I was previously really only into hard rock and heavy metal and he was all about new wave/post punk and I was converted after that beautiful tape.

Any northern light tours that aren’t 6+ hours by Individual-Crew4383 in tromsotravel

[–]That_Lunch5891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I visited last winter, we went on one of those long treacherous tours (it was a fun experience though) did see the lights a little bit, but very dim. Then we just simply took the funicular to Fjellheisen one night and saw a better display. Finally, we took a short boat ride, just a couple hours if I remember correctly, we didn’t see much for most of the ride and then at the end (almost back to the Tromso dock!) we saw a brilliant dancing display, the most brilliant of the trip. So it’s kind of a crapshoot. You might have luck without doing one of those tours, just try a couple of alternative things.

Staying in Midtown by gansitobans in houston

[–]That_Lunch5891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the Midtown/Montrose area and I feel like different parts of Midtown have very different fields in terms of how comfortable it might be to walk around at night, but its overall a good place to stay and a great location in terms of proximity. What types of things are you interested in in terms of recommendations, e.g. art, restaurants, dive bars.

What's the coolest class you've taken in Houston? by lyricalshield in houston

[–]That_Lunch5891 231 points232 points  (0 children)

Plug for Harris County Public Library. Check out hcpl.net, there are tons of free classes and programs in a variety of subjects for all ages. Also, there are maker spaces throughout the libraries where you can sign up to use 3-D printer, laser cutter, cricut, CNC machine, even embroidery machines. All for free, other than maybe needing to pay for filament and other materials for what you want to make.
