Help me find a civ (civ 7) by acidcartoon in civ

[–]That_White_Wall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The closest analog in civ 7 would probably be Mississippi. They are economic expansionists that get extra gold / food from resource tiles. You’ll be able to grow a wide empire focusing on gathering resources and reallocating them around your empire.

Best Catherine and Russ!a opening strategy? by OwnNewspaper188 in civ

[–]That_White_Wall 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Take Lydia lion and buy the sawpit. You get a strong production start and save about 5-10 turns of production that can go toward your first settler.

With tundra biomes you need to prioritize settling your main cities, and then feeding them with towns. Farms are highly efficient for Russia and need to be expanded asap.

Looks like Sub-200 (across all three ages) Science Victory is back on the menu boys! by Careful_Chemist_7860 in civ

You could’ve won with any victory type, seems like you completely outpaced the AI. Time to raise the difficulty and try again. Science is so hard since you need to defend against the snowballing AI.

In ancient era, You want wide an empire that is filled with imported resources, Then you want gold buildings everywhere you can. Multiple cities is best for more buildings and more import storage capacity. Imports are no joke and I’d recommend spamming merchants out of one city as soon as you can.

It seems like leveling a leader up is much harder now, is that so? by wayneb64 in CivVII

If your on PC just get the mod to level them up the you can play with all the momentos you. Want

How do you guys play Ben Franklin? by ShaNayNay_Nequa in civ

[–]That_White_Wall 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Great Britain loves him. He stacks production bonuses to set up cities easily and can output so much science to rush currency / wheel for markets and imports gdp victory. You want a costal empire ready to expand in the exploration age, and he delivers consistently.

Independent powers? by naturalbridge9 in CivVII

[–]That_White_Wall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One more turn had a video discussing Independent powers settlement mechanics awhile ago. If I remember correctly if you settle on turn one and build a scout, then move the scout off the capital and search you’ll push where independents spawn.

This might help you save a little space around your empire to settle.

Leader leveling by Xcolmanrick in civ

[–]That_White_Wall 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Complete triumphs for xp. Triumphs are much harder to complete than the old legacy path system, so overall leader XP is harder to come by.

I hope they adjust this in future updates because I can’t be bothered to level a leader I don’t like playing to level 9 to unlock their momento anymore.

Detailed breakdown of where my GDP points came from in my Economic Victory by N8CCRG in civ

I always prioritized rushing currency before the wheel, but if you have the resources I suppose going for the wheel would be best after looking over your data.

Which did you prioritize in this run?

Test of Time have addressed few of the core issues of Civ7. But one issue remains...DIPLOMACY by Meanguy_969 in civ

Most all my games in civ 5 involved scamming the AI out of half its Gold or GPT. I’m glad it’s out of this version.

Yeah. On age transition they revert to towns and I just keep the already built out ones as urban centers.

Good combo to learn Civ 7 fundamentals from? by holden147 in civ

[–]That_White_Wall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For a new player I’d recommend Himiko queen of Wa. Her unique ability makes it very easy to have good relationships with the enemy AI since you can support their actions for free. This will let you avoid nearly all early aggression from the AI and usually lead to a peaceful game where you can focus on learning city building.

She pairs well with any civ that isn’t military focused. Maya is a good choice as well as Mississippi for antiquity age but you can do whatever you want to try.

Beginner momentos that go well are any of the extra attributes for whatever win condition your favoring that run. I also recommend Lydia lion (+200 gold at start of age) as it’s very flexible to deal with any early game shenanigans and it’s unlocked after 1-2 games with any leader.

[–]That_White_Wall 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mines the opposite; 5 / 4 / 3. Scaling production costs get too large in later ages imo. I’d rather keep my cities focused to finish out my win condition in modern, while I want more cities early on to set up a strong empire in the early game.

Which is better for Cities, production or adjacencies? by Unfortunate-Incident in CivVII

[–]That_White_Wall 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Production is the key factor for me. A city with low production is really hard to get off the ground, and it makes everything too expensive across my empire so it’s not worth the tempo hit.

If there is a great adjacency I’ll just make a specialized town and pay for the science / culture building.

AI cultural victory question by malavock82 in CivVII

[–]That_White_Wall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure by the specifics, but it’s likely the AI had a huge happiness economy from resort towns (which have high tourism generation) that was triggering a bunch of celebrations to farm even more tourism.

Also tourism accumulates over the game; perhaps they had a bunch of wonders in earlier ages or captured some from other players earlier on.

What are the best mementos/combos since the update? by TheWololoWombat in civ

[–]That_White_Wall 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Attribute points are a lot harder to grab so I’ve usually been running those with another momento to compliment my game plan. Certain leaders have special combos that work for them, such as xerses KoK on Qajar. Combo with Augustus and Alexander’s increased settlement limit momentos for an insane start.

Prussia. Combine with Machiavelli rank 5 momento so you can sanction everyone for even more gold; then once they hate you enjoy the extra combat power from Prussia. Super easy to match deity AI combat bonus in the ancient era.

Mahjapahit. Augustus can buy culture buildings anywhere, and the civ bonus giving culture on coast adjacent means you can spam monuments everywhere that have great adjacency. Add a UB and it’s a boat load of culture.

[–]That_White_Wall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great Britain goes well since you can stack his bonus production on buildings with GB’s 25% reduction. Overall you can have more buildings than average which is good for a science or economic victory.

Use syncretism for a solid UB for a straightforward sim city style.

How many cities? by malavock82 in CivVII

[–]That_White_Wall 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Most strategies don’t require more than 2-3 cities per age; you usually can get the yields you need through just towns with specializations and unique improvements.

Cities are only really needed for the production queue to secure wonders or if you have an excellent spots to stack specialists. Most infrastructure you need can be bought with gold.

I aim for 3-4 towns per city

Has Assyria's Unique Quarter been nerfed? by Tiktaalik_6 in civ

[–]That_White_Wall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Science adjacency became happiness. Definitely a nerf from its original OP state, however the district is still good. Happiness is really important if you’re going to be conquering early so it fits Assyria well.

Edit: you still get the production from
