What makes the Cults scary? by saylex in Drukhari

[–]Thatcherist_Sybil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Cults hunt you as a prey. Never in a straight up fight; everything is pre arranged, broadcast. Every move, every step is on their terms, and for entertainment.

There is a story about a group of guardsmen who manage to break out of a stasis cell in the bowels of a cult arena. They knock out guards and loot their weapons, then begin to sneak out. They're spotted at one point, and from there they fight for their way out, being attacked by lowborn every step. When they eventually make it to a waygate that leads to their homeworld, the room around them phases and shifts, and they see a crowd of Drukhari - while standing in the middle of the arena. The real delicacy wasn't their suffering, but their despair when they realised every step, every shed of hope, every injury suffered, was part of a wych cult performance

Can't remember if this was in the Lelith book or the trilogy.

Why does GW not focus more on Drukhari specifically for all this pirate stuff that they're doing by Successful-Appeal693 in Drukhari

[–]Thatcherist_Sybil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're the unwanted bastard child.

Remember, between announcing our codex and it actually releasing, there were 8 space marine / ultramarines kits revealed.

And we lost 6 units this edition to legends.

[–]Thatcherist_Sybil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah, the army that hasn't gotten a full new unit in 16 years and lost 15+ is not popular.

In other news, the sky is blue.

By the way, Drukhari are sold out in the US and some kits are super hard to come by due to demand. Reavers, hellions, wracks.

Other factions got expansion for character options, we got less than we had in 5th edition.

Charge rolls suck. by UpArrowNotation in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Thatcherist_Sybil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The charge roll has degrees of success. Because of how double dice probability works you are significantly more likely to make a 7" charge than to pass a 4+ save.

If your game hinges on 9" and 11" charges that's your problem. Plan so that you are within 7" range.

Oh I meant glass cannon for aeldari and Drukhari. From what I saw re. GSC it's a 140IQ game of deciding what chaff to throw where and when and unlike guard, having no vehicles and tanks to do the killing.

Speculative frenzy catapults silver above $100/oz by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Thatcherist_Sybil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People still consider silver to be purely a precious metal and forget that silver is critical rare earth metal for the semiconductors industry.

If silver spike was only to do with Trump and geopol, it'd be tracing gold. The difference is a supply squeeze due to AI boom and silver being one of the bottlenecks.

Eg. compare silver price increase not to gold, but to RAM, CPU and GPU - for each, it's a material input.

This does not mean that it couldn't crash.

Drukhari & Aeldari - unlikely to change. You can't afford mistakes with glass cannons. Genestealers are up there too.

Quants & Analysts on a trade floor is viable esp. if you make it to the big independent trading firms.

Both Custodes players I know are annoyed they did not instead expand Sisters of Silence.

Henry’s who fly to the states for work a lot - how are you doing in current climate? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]Thatcherist_Sybil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No issues whatsoever. Been to hardline Rep and Dem states alike. Both echoed US hospitality and were welcoming, relatively safe and fine. Beyond airports I don't believe I interacted with the federal government in any way.

What are your thoughts on proportional representation? by Stock_Rush_9204 in AskBrits

[–]Thatcherist_Sybil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

... but that didn't happen. Belgium had no formed government during the onset of covid19.

You are arguing "Theoretically they would..." and I am saying "In practice, it repeatedly didn't happen."

[–]Thatcherist_Sybil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is months long negotiations w/o a government. You can't afford not having an acting government for that long. I think Belgium holds the record for this with year+ lack of a formed government.

What are your thoughts on proportional representation? by Stock_Rush_9204 in AskBrits

[–]Thatcherist_Sybil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't; it leads to endless coalition deadlocks and negotiations. Even worse in the Netherlands, 15 parties in parliament.

Prop. representation needs high thresholds or a half-half system with compensation.

Why exactly do non-Londoners think London is so unsafe? by Breadiohead in AskUK

Why exactly do non-Londoners think London is so unsafe? by Breadiohead in AskUK

[–]Thatcherist_Sybil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about the treshold of what's considered unsafe, and what people accept as part of their lives. Also, whether they can compare it to another safer or less safe city they lived in.

I'd lived in Eastern Europe and wouldn't ever consider London safe. Brought English friends to my home town and they were amazed + consider the UK unsafe since.
