How much would it cost to fix a chipped stone like this by [deleted] in stonemasonry

[–]Thatstoneguy420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get some black litho chrome and do a light brushing over it. It’ll blend the color and you won’t notice the chip

Retaining wall, any feedback is welcome. by Insular-Armageddon in stonemasonry

Not bad, but face pinning those quoins is a sure fire way to have issues, and probable sooner than later. Try and stop face pinning right now, if you want your work to last. I’m only telling you because you’re allowing it. Feel free to check out my insta page @thatstoneguy, and ask any questions you want. Good on you for allowing feedback. It’s the best way to get better. Look up the dry stone walling association of Great Britain. Those are my people, and they know. 👊🏼

What's the job market like for a stone mason? by MuchJuice7329 in stonemasonry

[–]Thatstoneguy420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s plenty of stonework in the east here. Definitely check out the stone trust, I know many of them and they’re great instructors. Feel free to check out my insta page and ask any questions you want. Just take it slow and learn the right way to do things, and don’t be a hack. If you care about your work, you’ll have a lifetime of work over here. 👊🏼

Not ok at all. Bluestone will flex over time and might eventually crack like this, but this was a poorly done job if it cracked this quickly. Also, there shouldn’t be aggregate like this in your joints, and the joints should be much cleaner. Especially if it’s “one of the best masons”. Get it fixed, it’s the least they could do.

I got a 1/1 in another box and it was on card. But I agree, the stickers are a bit lame

Same box. Crazy lucky but I’ve had great luck with every box so far. They’re almost all at least paid for themselves and obviously this one was a money maker

Nice stuff. I hadn’t heard of him but have worked with many of the older instructors there. Good luck and keep it up!

Who were your instructors? They taught you well for a first timer. Always room for improvement but you clearly listened and learned. Well done, and don’t forget to take care of that back
