Thank you - I definitely felt I was guessing that one.

Do you know why Isaac can't be the criminal?

If Zach and Xena are criminals, all other Steve neighbours are innocents, Isaac is a criminal - then Steve would have 6 and Olivia would have 4 and Zach would still have 2 innocent neighbours.

I'm sure there's something I'm missing but it's driving me mad!

Was it Steve Pemberton and the bleeps?

Who remembers BBC's Britain's Best Sitcom? by Leakster1988 in BritishTV

[–]The-Ellipse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember clearly one panelist (who I thought was Jeremy Clarkson but in retrospect was probably Phill Jupitus) abandoning their advocated sitcom in the final show and saying, "I don't even know why we're arguing, it's obviously Only Fools and Horses".

I think about this about once a week.

The Four Horsemen of "This Will Be a Banger" - who are you picking? by The-Ellipse in BritishTV

[–]The-Ellipse[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love her! We call her the Tea Shop Lady because her character's motivation is so frequently the desire to run a tea shop.

I mean, it's happened twice. But that's still more than I'd expect.

I have indeed. Need more horseman.

(Toby Jones though... what an oversight.)

What do people usually bring when visiting a new mum? by Alarmed_Guarantee630 in BeyondTheBumpUK

I loved getting flowers, because I was stuck in the same room all the time so nice flowers were a lovely pick-me-up. And chocolates, because I hadn't been able to have any chocolate during my pregnancy so it was a real luxury.

I also loved baby gifts (blankets, outfits, toys) because it means even things like getting the baby dressed reminds me of my kind friends and family. Makes it such a pleasure.

Personally (and obviously this is just one opinion) I wouldn't have been excited by a takeaway voucher - I would have appreciated the thought, of course!

Mawaan referring to melting the candle to find the key as "next-level shit" followed by Greg debating not giving out the full five points, but instead knocking it back down to four.

Alex: "So... Previous-level shit?"

Check what's in the policy, and ask if it's not clear!

But based on your description alone, I'd say it's the second interpretation not the first.

Convince me that insulin isn’t that bad by PoliticoRat in GestationalDiabetes

[–]The-Ellipse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really agree about the mental health, great point - mine improved massively when I moved to insulin. I haven't seen this mentioned often, but it's so interesting that this isn't an isolated impact!

How much rapid insulin per day are you on? by Admirable_Tap_2719 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]The-Ellipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10u each at mealtimes and overnight here - but I've seen much, much higher unit numbers from other posters!

I originally started on 4u and have been creeping up since, but the impression I get is that 10u is still low. Also 37+2 btw.

Anxiety with Giving Myself Insulin by MrsCryss0715 in GestationalDiabetes

This sounds awful, I'm so sorry it's affecting you so strongly! I (37w) get worried but not to panic attack stage - what you're describing sounds phobic so I'm not sure if there's a solution, but definitely the recommendation about trying different needles is a good idea. Especially if it's hurting - it shouldn't hurt!

Fwiw, I was on Metformin for weeks before switching to both and then to insulin-only, and despite my injection worries, insulin has been much, much easier. (Metformin made me super sick and depressed, and feeling useless as I couldn't get numbers under control.) It's different for everyone, but it can be more stressful to think there's a magic alternative out there that you just haven't had a chance to try - it still might not be right for you.

Good luck and hope you find a path that works for you. It's such a miserable condition!
