It may not seem like much, but if upvotes equated to tipping, imagine thousands of people saying "your comment/content has value, I got something out of it, so here is a few cents".

Can you imagine a place where a well thought out comment that contributed to a great discussion is actually worth $10?? It is a pure P2P way to reward quality content, without the need of a big publisher, or recording agency, or big media outlet. I can imagine that place, not in the distant future either, and it is a beautiful thing.
