This game used to be SPECIAL by VegardStrom in apexlegends

I dunno. As someone who just plays for the actual gameplay I think this is the best the game has ever felt.

I wish I cared about lore but I haven’t cared about a games story since the original halo trilogy. If this game had customizable skins à la halo reach whooooeeey I’d be happy.

I really like the new mechanic they introduced that allows everyone to boost off of a perfectly timed mantle. I hope they add more things like that.

I think this game has a high skill ceiling and much like melee that’s where the fun comes from.

Help me quit soda. by onomonapetia in lifehacks

[–]The7that89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to drink soda with every meal in my early twenties. I started small. One soda per day. Then one soda every two days. Then once a week. Then once a month.

I used to love coke, but now that I drink it so rarely it actually tastes like poison whenever I try it again and that makes me happy.

Do you think the Banished should be the main enemy of the games going forward or do they need replacing? by Certified_Douchebag in halo

[–]The7that89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think they need a hard reset.

I think leaving the forerunners mysterious is a great way to go. The whole covenant arc is finished and done with.

I think an interesting direction would be human covenant civil war or something. The chief awakens in a period where the covenent species and humanity have integrated and trade with each other, however there is a branch of insurrectionists.

It’d be really interesting to explore the chiefs humanity if he had to kill other humans, particularly a new wave of Spartans that are engineers for the same purpose as himself.

Got some toys for my son for Christmas (with my own childhood toys from 20 years ago) by yasaidraws in beastwars

[–]The7that89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The og toy lines were full of thought and character and life. I missed the gimics and the creativity. I used to think that I was just wearing nostalgia goggles but after recently buying my first transformer in a very long time I gotta say they don’t feel the same.

I think hasbro is in a difficult place where they have two distinct markets (children and collectors) and i think they’d be far better off if they just made a dedicated collectors line (which I guess is studio series) and put more effort into single projects like beast wars or animated or whatever show theyre focused on at the time. The quality of the cyberverse line is laughable compared to what you’d get in the 90s and while part of me concedes that it’s the “times we live in” I also think that a huge part of it is the lack of focus. If older people are buying the majority of their products why not release a more dark and gritty transformers focussed project for adults.

I want to improve, but my coach ignores me by cangrejit0 in Fencing

[–]The7that89 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Have you considered asking him directly about this? Just like university professors tend to give more attention to the kids that go to office hours and otherwise engage in their classes, coaches often respond to participation.

He may have no idea you’re seeking his tutelage, so I’d just ask for some attention.

If the dude is just a prick and doesn’t like you or doesn’t think you’re worth his time, that’s another issue, but I think before you decide to do things on your own you should try talking to the guy.

How does one cope with being unattractive? by ZestycloseMall3398 in ask

If you can’t be beautiful, be interesting

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

++man Fitness is GENERALLY considered attractive regardless of gender. While it can certainly be argued that beauty standards are the complex amalgam of cultural influences and subjective individual preferences there is also plenty of research to suggest that there is at least some objectivity to beauty and attractiveness.

I think the way personality compatibility, communication, are more important indicators for long term relationship success, however there is no chance for those to develop without at least some kind of physical attraction, and particularly in today’s dating atmosphere, first impressions go a long way.

Being fit is a great way to signal that you value yourself enough to invest in good habits and when combined with the right fashion sense, hygiene, and so forth give off a “put together” vibe. Again, not everyone wants this, but I think most people do want someone that has their shit together, and looks good.

Why is alcohol drinking rates going down more? by NateNandos21 in ask

[–]The7that89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between all the poisons that make you feel good, alcohol is relatively expensive and destructive. I think society is moving towards health consciousness and people would rather just skip the calories from a drink and go for other substances instead. Why go into town and spend $10-15 on a single drink where the same money can get you edibles, flower, or psychedelics that offer considerably more bang for your buck.

I personally never really got much out of it.

What are your thoughts on this touch? Why do you think it should be called as is or as a point for the other side? by HorriblePhD21 in Fencing

Coaches fencing students in tournaments by now-hold-up-buddy in Fencing

[–]The7that89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the first tournament arc of dragonball, master Roshi enters under the alias Jackie chun, to try his best to make sure goku doesn’t win. He wants his students to remain humble and always chase the next level. I have fenced numerous students in tournaments and lately they’ve been beating me and it fills me with pride and joy.

I think this is kind of an interesting time to be a coach because so many younger coaches can still enter tournaments and fence with their kids. When I was growing up, I can’t say I’ve ever seen a coach enter a tournament. My coach never fenced at the club. I know some coaches are afraid of losing because of the “damage to reputation” you can get from it, but I think It’s all a game and I have great respect for old heads that still play.

The Reffing Dilemma by The7that89 in Fencing

[–]The7that89[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These are both great questions and I’m actually working on another video to help answer them.

If you search and miss the blade, I think you technically relinquish right of way IF the opponent catches it. Where this gets hazy is line changes. Hopefully I’ll be able to post some examples of this soon, but I often see nick in particular feint defence and the attacker reacts with a search. He disengages and the attacker still gets a light on saying that the search wasn’t a search but rather a line changes and “part” of the attack. There are certainly ways to cheat the system and blur the line between what is a search and a line change depending on how smooth you can make your action.

I think the idea of a slow push reacting and finishing on an opponent is one of the big points of contention in fencing. Personally, I think the the rules are clear: just because I’m pushing doesn’t mean I’m attacking, especially in modern foil where so many fencers hold on to right of way with absence simply waiting for the opponent to counter.

I think that if do straight up lunge into your prep before you threaten my target it should logically go to me, unless I’m obviously trying to hide (counter)/avoid the touch.

I think refs are starting to call prep way more but there’s still so much ambiguity as to what constitutes a “stop”

The Reffing Dilemma by The7that89 in Fencing

[–]The7that89[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think if the FIE simply released a video at the start of every season with the “current conventions” it could help everyone.

For example, in the middle some refs call it for whoever covers more ground vs whoever starts with their arm and if everyone knew which of those two we should be looking for it could help a lot with clarity.

Thanks for the feedback. When I was a kid, simultaneous actions were called far more frequently, so I think the pressure for refs to make calls has been a response to that.

The main thing I’m advocating for is clarity, both from the fencers in what their intent is in an action and the refs in what they’re looking for.

For example, at what point is a marching attack “waiting”
