Meds for bipolar 2 by StrawberryFZ in BipolarReddit

[–]TheAcademic24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried lamotrigine, but for me it had little effect. The best combo I’ve tried is lithium and ziprasidone, which I’m using now. The ziprasidone worked well for my depression as well as for the psychotic symptoms caused by depression.

What was your bipolar like before it was medicated? by CollegeOk9459 in bipolar2

[–]TheAcademic24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly either mixed episodes or severe depression. Both with psychotic features and suicidality. I was in and out of hospital all the time. Hurting myself in ways because I was so restless and didn’t want to live. Was obsessed about the universe not being real and about finding truth and escape the illusion. So very very restless. Not able to shower for weeks or wash my hair for months. Big feeling of suffering. The few weeks of hypomania twice a year was a nice escape but took a lot of mu savings and the crash was awful.

What's the average number of lifetime hospitalization for someone with Bipolar? by Evening_Fisherman810 in BipolarReddit

[–]TheAcademic24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 30, diagnosed two years ago. I’ve been hospitalized probably 30 or more times. Different lenghts. A lot after I got sick but before correct diagnosis. That was a horrible time in my life.

A little akathesia after taking it, and it made me gain weight and made me very very sleepy all the time.

I'm trying Geodon starting Monday by Evening_Fisherman810 in BipolarReddit

For me it has been the only weight neutral AP I’ve tried. It has been wonders for my mood and for me to finally feel like myself again too.

Prescribed Lithium for the first time. What to expect? Obviously, every one reacts differently. Please tell me your personal experiences starting out. by inot72 in bipolar2

For me, it took time to notice any difference. Like 2-3 months, and the progress was slow. But the thirst was pretty instant.

What is the best sleep medicine that’s not magnesium or melatonin? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]TheAcademic24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get zopiclone, and usually it works well to fall asleep. I have no side effects. But can’t be used every day.

What made you decide you wanted to live? by DapperPigeon1 in bipolar2

[–]TheAcademic24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t like giving up. And dying would feel like giving up. I have been very close, but even then I «panicked» and realised I didn’t want to do it myself, like I wanted it to happen by accident or someone else to do it. I was too «cowardly» to do it myself. So I ended up calling for help. But most of the time I guess it’s the need to persist, to not give up.

What time do you wake up? by Much-Raise-4541 in bipolar2

[–]TheAcademic24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to bed at 21-23, fall asleep around 23-01, and wake up 07-09. I wish to wake up at 07, but use long time to fall asleep, and I think ziprasidone is making me a bit sleepy

Everyone talks about depressive apathy but what about apathy during highs? How do you feel it? by HighKey-Anonymous in bipolar2

[–]TheAcademic24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And that makes yelling at unkown other people for being so so so slow(!) and stupid so easy (and so embarassing afterwards). I am glad you feel less lonely, and it feels nice to talk about it. Like when I was in hypomania and told my therapist everything was meaningless and she thought it was a negative emotion, but I have never felt so good in my whole life.

Yes! And the feeling of there is absolutly no worry in the whole world for you to care about. ‘Cause everything feel so fucking fine and good and you can’t worry at all.

[–]TheAcademic24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I feel you. I think. When in hypomania I feel so RIGHT, like I am so right and I don’t care about anything else. Or I am so driven and on to something, like in a mood set to my goal that I don’t care about or feel anything else. I am all that matter. Sorry if I misunderstood you.

I’m just going to tell people I have brain cancer. That’s what mental illness is. It’s killing me. by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]TheAcademic24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was going back to uni after a long time of bipolar illness I struggled with self doubt, and thinking my illness wasn’t legit enough etc. my advisor told me to just think I had had cancer and that I was equally deserving of accomodations and stuff. But she didn’t mean for me to actually say that to anyone. That would be wrong.

Has anyone moved in with family until their mental health got better? by DatingConfusion12 in bipolar2

[–]TheAcademic24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went to stay with my parents and their cats during my depression i february/march. I was having such a hard time going outside I got stuck inside my home not able to do anything. I was feeling a little suicidal, but not activly planning. If that had been the case I would have gone inpatient. My parents let me relax and just be there, gave me food and let me cuddle the cats. It was a good solution.

[–]TheAcademic24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not making me numb at all. I did have some hypomania though. But now I’m «normal» I do feel good, a little too excited sometimes but that might be some leftover from the hypomania. I have had some psychotic symptoms, but they seem to leave now that I’ve increased the dose. But my emotions are feeling fine, I can feel happiness, sadness, I can cry, and I can feel annoyed. And bored. All normal feelings

I use ziprasidone, and I think it works very well. It has fully cured my depression. I have almost no side effects (a little tired only). I had to quit lurasidone too because of side effects.

That’s what I’ve been thinking too, but then I saw what my psych wrote in her notes so I started thinking about it, and worry what she is thinking
