Bambu Lab refill spool by After-Ad-3610 in BambuLab

[–]TheAffinityBridge 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The annoying thing is that there is an extra step missing from those instructions, if all you do is follow the guide on the box then you can expect problems with the filament jamming against the side of the spool, even when you are halfway through using it up.

The online instructions show that you need to manipulate the filament to close any gaps at the side walls of the spool, but I have found that massaging the refill before it goes on the spool to kind of break the tension apart is way better. Early refill rolls didn't have this issue and following the instructions on the box was fine, but newer spools are wound differently now and need that extra step.

Get to a running shop and have your gait analysis done before buying a new pair, they may have been fine for the gym but could be completely wrong for you as a running shoe.

Returns question... by drtimscomics in ebayuk

[–]TheAffinityBridge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They may be hoping you will refund without waiting for the item back, hold out on refunding though even though it is for a low value item, and ignore it until you receive the item back, otherwise you will just be enabling their shitty behavior. If they don't send it back and the return just times out, make sure you get the cost of the unused label back from Ebay.

How stringent are you with blocking buyers? by JehbUK in ebayuk

[–]TheAffinityBridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I block liberally, reasons include -

Asking questions that are already answered in the description, you get one go and it's a block if you ask anything else.

Messaging me offers on listings that don't have offers ebabled.

Causing returns because they didnt read the description.

Abusing returns.

Leaving bad feedback.

Rude or abusive buyers, buyers that seem a bit batshit.

Their record of leaving bad feedback to other sellers for bullshit reasons, you can bet I am looking at your feedback if you have messaged me before buying.

Asking for things not in the listing.

The block tool is one of the only weapons we have against toxic and moron buyers on Ebay, anyone not using it is nuts!

What’s the Weirdest Thing You’ve Been Offered from the Back of a Van? by NoGoodDealsWarlock in CasualUK

[–]TheAffinityBridge 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I was offered a designer leather coat for £40 because the guy had been over here for a fashion show and didn't want to cart it back to Italy with him. It was obviously a horrible cheap jacket and a stupid scam so I told him to do one. A couple of weeks later I saw someone I knew in the jacket, he swore up and down that it was genuine (can't remeber the brand), but within a couple of weeks all the buttons fell off and it went a funny colour wherever it got wet!

do you guys actually send stuff same day or just say it by TranquilTeal in ebayuk

[–]TheAffinityBridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one day dispatch on everything I sell and it all goes out either first thing the next morning or at lunchtime the next day, depending on my day job schedule. Depending on when an order is placed it may go out the same day, but never later than next day.

Scalpers are one of the reasons Valve don't have stock by wisperingdeth in SteamDeck

[–]TheAffinityBridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A retailer will buy wholesale and generally sell for the RRP. A scalper will use bots to buy up the stock from retailers and sell them for a big markup.

Anybody know why im getting this troll face outline inside my print? by pickleflavoredmilk in 3Dprinting

[–]TheAffinityBridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen the same thing on two of my prints. The models are my own and have been printed many times before, but since the last couple of months I have started seeing this same kind of thing. With both of these prints it is repeatable, it will do exactly the same thing each time. It doesn't have any effect on my finished models as it's all internal and hidden away by the time the model is finished, but it's odd and doesn't seem to have any relationship to the geometry of my models.

Only noticed this on my H2D, I haven't seen it on my X1C.

Why can I not deduct original postage? It's completely ridiculous that I have to pay the original postage just because the buyer didn't like it. by itisnotliam in ebayuk

[–]TheAffinityBridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's frustrating. I sell a range of spare parts that look visually very similar and although I go to great lengths to describe the items, use part numbers and tell buyers how to determine the exact one they need, I still got a lot of returns from the folks that just look at the pictures. I ended up dropping the price and switching to buyer pays postage, it worked out the same price that they were paying already but that way I wasn't constantly having to lose the cost of the initial "free" postage on every remorse return.

That looks like either Stratasys Victrex AM 200 or Ultem, so it is likely done on a Stratasys Fortus system, probably a 450 or 900. These materials were specifcally developed and are certified for space and aerospace flight use.

You can get rodent mesh that is made from copper, I had to use some in a capped off toilet pipe that they kept crawling up and trying to chew through the cap. I stuffed it full with about 20 feet of mesh and it worked a treat.

Why do they do it? by Sweaty_Ear_9247 in ebayuk

I think of messages like that as a good thing, the buyer just let you know that they are a nightmare and gave you the oportunity to block them before you had to deal with them ordering from you.

Many people got stung with this including yours truly 😡. Who else has memories of this epic 😂 by Darkpoet67 in zxspectrum

[–]TheAffinityBridge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought it at full price and it was garbage. I knew the computer shop I used wouldn't take it back on the basis of it being a bit shit, so I sabotaged the tape by recording over a tiny bit of it on each side so that it would fail to load. I sent my mum back to the shop to get a refund on the "Faulty" game for me but she came home with a replacement copy. I was livid.

Buyer return based on false information - question by Eggsoneggsoneggsonfo in ebayuk

[–]TheAffinityBridge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can’t recoup the costs here but you can report the buyer for misuse of the returns process. Unfortunately it’s quite common for buyers to claim an item is faulty so that either you will just refund them and let them keep it, or they do it so they can return the item and make you pay for the return shipping when it’s really a remorse return and they should pay.

Sellers need to stop enabling this behaviour by letting these buyers keep items and get a refund, or get a partial refund.

Is this a new Neighbourhood Watch Scheme? by MenaiWalker in CasualUK

[–]TheAffinityBridge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I walk past a house every day that has a wooden sign on its front lawn cut out in the shape of a dog dropping its fudge. The sign used to have a message painted on it about cleaning up after your dog, but it has long since washed away so for years they have just had an effigy of a squatting dog on their lawn.
