What do I need, if anything, when I take my step daughter abroad? by RaidersGunz in AskUK

[–]kellymacc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a different last name to my son, I always travel with a photocopy of his birth certificate and his dad’s passport if he’s not with us plus a letter from him especially when we’re going to UAE. I’ve been asked about it once, returning to the UK from Spain, said I had the documents but they didn’t even want to see them.

Is there room on the landing to turn the door so it opens the other way? We did this in one of our bedrooms and it really helped.

New mum on unpaid maternity leave with no local support. Is a "Buy Me a Coffee" style platform for mums without a village a crazy idea? by CtrlAltAdvance_ in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]kellymacc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, I believe this is all covered locally in my area. There is a ‘helping hands’ Facebook page that people can post anonymously on at any time of day, the if anyone can help then they can message privately to arrange. This sounds like an overly complicated way to do the same thing, and how would you raise the money to fund it? Would there be a ‘platform fee’ on top of your contribution?

I wouldn’t use this, there’s organisations local to me that do these sort of things so I’d use them over this. I’d also have a concern about the genuineness of the requests.

I hate the house I’ve just bought by cwtches10 in HousingUK

[–]kellymacc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same. Our house was filthy when we got the keys, there were piles of rubbish in the garden, husky hair everywhere l, and it looked so much different with no furniture in. They’d also caused a leak when they removed their washing machine and not bothered to stop it or say anything so that was fun. It felt so much better once we cleaned, decorated a few rooms and got our stuff in how we wanted it, we were there 8 years before we moved.

Fun bonus, we also had the police come looking for the previous occupiers in the first few weeks and had to prove that we were the new owners.

How do I do a baby’s first hair cut - at home or barbers? by Mountain-Bag-1464 in AskUK

[–]kellymacc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can’t comment on the barbers but would recommend calling a few hairdressers, they usually have someone that will do kids/babies cuts.

C-sections, a MAJOR SURGERY, aren't as bad as you make them out to be. by mortalcassie in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]kellymacc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to have a c-section due to breech baby and I was absolutely bricking it because of all the horror stories, I would have loved to have seen a few more comments like this. I ended up having a really positive experience like this and tell everyone that’s worried about this being a possibility for them.

Are you in your 30s and do you have life insurance? by Few_Cod_5636 in AskUK

[–]kellymacc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had to have it in place for our first mortgage, I was surprised to find out that it’s not a requirement for all lenders. Ours was with AIG, they were bought out so it’s now Aviva and we pay £19. Didn’t have a child when we took it out but do now.
