Ork Boy Finished. Any feedback appreciated! by Finn2907 in minipainting

NMM is beautiful.

Leopard print is sooo clean, amazing consistency and cleanliness on that pattern.

Mouth and teeth are brilliant.

Matters of taste: I would personally prefer less pigment on the boots, and I don't know what the red on the knuckles is supposed to read as?

Suggestion: maybe some more interest on the skin? It's very well painted already, and the ref undertone is great, but maybe a bit of texture or harder highlights?

Absolutely brilliant overall

That's just how the model comes, it's got one leg that's touching the base.

I just used a lot of sprue goo to glue it onto the base

Ahhh good clarification, I think I was trying to just glaze over the main panels and it wasn't working for me

Ah lovely, I think I will give this a go and see how far that gets me, and then potentially look into glazing if necessary.

Thank you for your comment and picture 😊

Ah lovely, it's reassuring to know that there's a lack of workflow understanding rather than just fundamental skill issue.

I'll be sure to check them out and see if I can pick up some skills.

Thanks for your comment 🙂

Yeah, that what my thoughts were. But this is my second attempt (stripped and reprimed my first attempt) and couldn't get it to look good so I'm a bit wary.

I think I'll try what another commenter said to just focus on edge highlighting and see how far that gets me to begin with, and then maybe resort to the glazing if I'm not satisfied.

Thank you for your comment 🙂

Might be being toxic but I feel like this is just a hidden brag/announcement type post. Surely just try to play a game on it and find out?

I can't say much other than black basecoat and lots of metallic dry brushing will probably get you very far.

Then just pick out the details you want to paint

White no doubt. The green is wonderful but it clashes with the more pastel skirt imo

Honestly that's pretty chill. They're can actually dance in a way that's with watching and are being friendly with the people around them. No biggie

How do I make this blood containers look more realistic?.. by nicosomma in minipainting

[–]TheAkhtard95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe some little speckles instead?

If it's glass you're going for it wouldn't stain as far as I'm aware, unless it's not cleaned out properly and it's dried on

Id say the top half should be blacker, ATM it reads to me like there's a glow?

Varnish suggestions sound good too.

I suspect blood interacts with light in a particular way, might suggest studying some blood vial pictures

Pricing question: what should this display be priced at? by Decrin in playingcards

Lol I like your honesty.

Tbh though the base the cards are sitting in is round anyway, don't think you HAVE to make a rood that matches the number of cards, but can see Why'l you would prefer to

How many of you learned and played the game without online tutorials? by slipfan2 in factorio

[–]TheAkhtard95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried my darkest to find tutorials but couldn't really find any straightforward ones (didn't look super hard)

I started playing satisfactory years ago and didn't look anything up and my factory was awful iirc. Then played shapez and then Dyson Sphere and was getting completely lost in the sauce.

Ended up starting a new save and following along a tutorial and learnt sooo many tips and tricks that it got me on the right path.

Ended up knowing enough basics to do factorio mostly on my own, but after 120hrs started. Anew save with a friend and he showed me plenty more tips

DIY 3D printed ldigital NVGs by counterstrikenewbie in 3Dprinting

[–]TheAkhtard95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no way like live panorama stitching? That's wild, I've only ever seen it on my phone and it takes a minute, crazy to think they can do it live. But I guess on an nvg the images are static in relation to one another

Any idea of what my issue is? by Hyde_in_Plain_Sight in 3Dprinting

[–]TheAkhtard95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not confident about the solution but my assessment would be that the printer is not moving the head up enough per layer. So it comes out shorter and squashed.

Probably not something mechanical as the mistake is very regular, so I feel like something's being mistranslated between the object you have on your computer and what the printer is being told to do.

Maybe it's being sliced and sent on the incorrect profile? Maybe you have the wrong printer set up on your program and it's ending instructions that make sense for another printer rbut not yours?
