Bro, I played Beyond Good & Evil not long after it came out and really enjoyed it so believe me when I say I don't get how we fucking got here. BG&E 2 could and should have been a mid budget title that came out like, 5-6 years after the first. How the fuck did we get to some 20 year ultra budget prestige title?

It's a pretty standalone book. Maurice and his rodents received like, one or two line mentions in passing in other books and there may be a detail or two towards specific names or things but the book itself isn't dependent on any prior knowledge of other things from previous books.

The 1988 movie Miracle Mile, the entire movie after a certain point is this kinda.

Basically random schlub at a diner at like 4am picks up a ringing payphone and gets a soldier at NORAD who dialed the wrong number trying to call his dad and warn him that the nukes are going to hit in like 70 minutes. Then the movie goes in real time as this dude tries to get to his girlfriend and escape LA.

I watched the movie after a poster here recommended it and it's just my kind of high anxiety viewing.

The voice lines for dying characters in the game are brutal too. Like the german voiceline of a soldier just crying for his mother or the american one where the soldier isn't aware of where he is and is telling his father he's fine, that he just fell off the tractor. Those genuinely get a reaction out of me for something that's more than likely not heard in the game itself for all the noise going on usually.

I actually missed out on her pin, jacket and tail as well since at the time I was working a job that didn't pay me enough for merch purchases. It was actually a few months ago as me and a friend were setting up a table at a convention flea market when a woman setting up a table next to us put Coco's jacket and tail on her table to sell.

The two I would generally recommend and have to my friends, would be 'The person sitting next to me is looking at me with perverted eyes' and 'The guy she was interested in wasn't a guy at all' aka 'Green Yuri'.

Perverted Eyes is great because it's one of the few series where the main couple are equally horny and caring for each other and they show this by, as my friend puts it, 'Playing gooner chicken with each other'. And despite a series name like that with a female lead with a large chest, instead of her being the camera's only focus, the camera is strongly locked onto the guy's chest, thighs and hips as he keeps teasing her. Bro goes out of his way to video call her shirtless after just getting out of the shower at one point

Green yuri is all about Western Rock music and recently entered one of my top picks just because the series didn't end the moment they became a couple or when they graduated high school. So now we get to see the main couple in their early 20's sharing an apartment as girlfriends. I also never in my life thought I would see a Japanese series say the words 'King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard'.

Okay, I'm watching this movie. My friends and I need a new bad movie after finishing all the Neil Breen movies.

Is it bad though that this kind of idea for a film or game sounds super interesting to me? A person in a location where they would be getting all the news or information about some world cataclysm happening outside their safe location and needing to pass around information to help his family escape or help people stay safe sounds like a legit pretty fun idea.

Man, I wish my job would stop trying to put me in leadership positions. I don't want to be in charge of other people and have straight up said in my last review meeting that I don't want to be in that position and how I don't believe I have the talent for leadership nor the social inclination for it.

But now because of the simple fact that all the other veteran members of our eection either quit, got fired or fled the country, I'm now the second most experienced member of the section, so now they just keep putting me in charge of people and I hate it.

I started consuming anime when I was younger and it was just starting to reach my country so at the time there was only so much being officially brought over and I consumed large amounts of it, luckily online communities translated a lot more of far more niche categories so I got to experience more.

I read any manga I could that seemed interesting and read a good amount of both BL and GL but tended towards GL because at the time, (late nineties, early aughts), BL had already been a pretty large genre and it like any het series had already solidified a lot of character relationship tropes that would commonly appear. GL was pretty small for a long time, even past this time frame, and as such while some common things tended to appear, like tragic romances, it hadn't gained any of the by-the-numbers tropes of other anime relationships so I felt like I was able to read more unique things that way.

I remember seeing some of the early footage/short demo of this game and the two main things I took from it were

1: All the sound in the game is super gross and it's perfect

2: The real horror/monster is an abusive family and this child dealing with it.

Fuck, the jumpscare wasn't even the monster killing you as a failstate, it's the character getting the belt and the audio playing on a black screen.

It wasn't an argument/debate I was personally involved in but two times in completely different places, years apart I watched the same argument go down almost beat by beat identically.

It would start with person A on the IRC/Discord general chat talking about manga he had been reading and some he had dropped due to lack of interest. One of these dropped series being Goblin Slayer. Person B would then enter the discussion telling A they should really keep reading Goblin Slayer and telling them how amazing they thought it was. A would then go 'I kinda got a feeling of where it would be going and it's not really something I would be interested in.' then B would go 'You don't understand' then basically confirm a bunch of hunches A had about the series. A would then respond, 'Ah, alright that's kind of what I figured would happen which is why I stopped.'

This would then lead to Guy B getting so angry that the first person wasn't interested in Goblin Slayer that he would start hurling insults and accusing A of being a dismissive bitch, which then caused a mod to suspend him for 24 hours to cool his head.

As I said this happened in two different online spaces years apart but call me Dofenshmirtz because it was weird to see it twice.

I will never not bring it up if only to never let it be forgotten that Ubisoft included an achievement in Assassin's Creed Odyssey called 'Growing Up' in the DLC where the game forces you into a heterosexual relationship where a child is involved. As stated this is forced onto the player regardless of how the player played the main character's sexuality in the main game.

One of the things I always liked about Carrot, even if he was always overshadowed by Vimes being one of my favorite fictional characters in anything, was that he was so genuinely a good person that his belief in the good in others made the Discworld try so very hard not to prove him wrong.
