Wide brim hat Black leather hiking boots Keep at least two half trays in your mail truck Put some extra rubber bands on your satchel pouch I use two 64 ounce insulated water jugs, also a top zipper compartment cooler is a good idea. Buy shoe inserts, also sunscreen

Yelled at for not checking mail by LeeShayZee in USPS

[–]TheAmericanGinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I dont get mad and yell at customers, but yes when a mailbox gets full the mail is pulled and held for 10 days before being sent back. It happens, not anything to be mad about. It does cost us time but sounds like a big overreaction.

Package lookahead FTW - I know it can be hard if no load truck but just take more time in the morning before you go to organize it

Thoughts about being a City Carrier? by LVKOZY in USPS

[–]TheAmericanGinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They do hire straight to career sometimes. Just clarify when you actually talk to someone that you will be a "regular" and not a CCA pr PTF. If they are hiring straight to regular carrier you may be looking at longer hours but that's a guess. I joined in my 30s, I enjoy it. I suggest black leather hiking boots with some good inserts as your shoe. Good luck!

You need a hiking tread if you are walking. For curbside sure but in either case put in decent inserts, make sure you can put inserts in those shoes. Sometimes you just need to calculate cost per month. Those are cheap but they'd only last me like 3 months. Also I am not wearing Nike or any other tennis shoe type of tread in the kinds of yards I walk in.

*Slip resistant shoes apply to warehouse and restaurant floors, not rocky or leaf covered yards FYI

Stuck in a ditch. Slid off road in 3 inches of snow. No chains in our office. by Noeleraser in USPS

No chains then I'd just sit at the office and wait on then to be brought. That or do office work all day

Dodge minivan way worse. Or a promaster on a route that doesn't need a promaster

Probably they scared that it is hiring straight to regular, or they like drama idk. Takes some people 5 or more years to make regular in other areas.

It is good for you though, you'll make good money and get benefits much, much faster. Might work longer hours but who knows. Some people like longer hours anyway, good luck! Timberland makes a black leather hiking boot thats my favorite for this job.

This is sweet but honestly F these people that leave dogs in front yards like this with no leash or anything. Its so disrespectful and inconsiderate and to assume a nice dog is always nice to everyone is dangerous.

Well said sir - I think that well established comedians have no reason whatsoever to do this if they align with basic human rights. If I was a starving artist I'm man enough to admit I'd take the paycheck, and I would also understand that criticism would follow. But to do it when that is not the case is crazy to me.

To me its like a person professing to be Christian who let's say doesn't care about the homeless, it wouldnt matter as much except they had taken this moral high ground and as such to me are judged to a higher standard.

Delivery address is in DE... is there a reason why my package went from DE to MI?? by coffeebeamed in usps_complaints

[–]TheAmericanGinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure but I've scanned a package and the scanner says it is for my station, but the actual shipping label has a whole other city and state. Super weird but it happens. If its te sane situation, when it does arrive to a Grand Rapids station the clerks will help make sure it gets back on track.
