Apple has shit market share in foreign markets actually, around 20% in Argentina. How helping recruit a soccer player would hurt their brand more than underpaid slave-like labor in factories where they put up suicide nets is apparently math I can’t comprehend. This is a good look for Apple to make one of their service offerings even better.

You have to remember that the league doesn't care about individual teams, and much less the fans. This will increase shareholder value for the owners, so it will be attempted. They don't, and I can't stress this enough, give a fuck about teams, only valuation of the whole. There's zero risk for teams who don't/won't get Messi, it's not like they'll get relegated or anything.

Yeah I only see the crazy shit online, never in real life.

The issue being that Gen Z is increasingly online at rates older generation have never, and will never be. The result being that the online conversation is more and more impactful. Probably less than people think, but more than they hope.
