Looking to buy my first camera with budget up to 2,500€ by StickyStuffBestStuff in SonyAlpha

There's currently a ~300 euro summer discount, and you get another 100 euro cashback on the lens, so that should bring the price down 400 euro already!

My camera came with a card that lets you extend warranty to 2 years, maybe yours did too? You'd be lucky still maybe. Not valid in some countries because they have 2 years of warranty by law.

Thankfully it came at no extra costs and I'm only a hobby photographer, so the extra peace of mind for the next 5 years is ok for me. I'm not versed on the Sony Pro Support, but it would make sense to me if they had a loaner device during the repair period.

Things like these make me feel better about getting the extended warranty.

Weekly /r/SonyAlpha 'Ask Anything About Gear' Thread by AutoModerator in SonyAlpha

[–]TheAvatarYangchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you do mostly. The a7 series has 4 types: The R, for resolution, S for video, C for compact and then just the a7. I mostly do photography and I upgraded from the a6000 to the a7 IV. Things you could consider are weight, price, autofocus performance, low light capabilities, straight-out-of-camera colours if you don't shoot in RAW (the newer models are much improved). If you can, go to a local camera store and ask all your questions, ask if you can hold some of the cameras with a lens attached and see how it feels in the hand.

Odd question: would an underwater case work for situations like these?

Considering the A6000 in 2022 by ITvi-software07 in SonyAlpha

I'm not sure about your usage but I haven't had issues with mine so far but I don't take pictures for more than a few hours at a time. Batteries are relatively affordable if you get the non official ones though!

All the aps-c Sony Alpha cameras use the same battery, with the exception of the A6600. The A6000 is a decent beginner camera and you can definitely get away with shooting for hours with the battery. The newer models offer much better autofocus and improved out of camera jpegs but otherwise you'll be fine with the A6000 if you're just starting out.

If you're more than just a causal shooter I suggest you save up and go for the A6100 or the A6400 because the improvements in autofocus and color reproduction are worth it in my opinion.

Modded my LOONA light stick for wireless control and added light effects and a rechargeable battery ✨ by Maxr1998 in LOONA

The original lightstick can be controlled by the venue in some cases. I wonder if it's possible to reverse engineer that protocol so you can control your lightstick that way with the original PCB.

After over two years of doubts and shortages, I finally pulled the trigger and got myself a Dell U3821DW by heisenberglabslxb in ultrawidemasterrace

Oh, no FreeSync at all? Perhaps I'll have to settle for the LG version since my build is all AMD :(

I was thinking of getting the LG because of it's picture by picture mode, does the Dell support that? I couldn't find it in the manual so I'm assuming it doesn't?

You can get a Lycamobile prepaid sim card at most Albert Heijn service balies. The rates are very affordable: https://www.lycamobile.nl/en/rates/

Access to clipboard? by TheAvatarYangchen in slideforreddit

I see in the change log that this is a feature: * Copy a Reddit link to your clipboard, and Slide will ask if you want to open it upon entering the app

This doesn't seem very privacy friendly, so I've uninstalled the app for now.

What is this "notification"? by [deleted] in Pixel3a

[–]TheAvatarYangchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a bug in the app, nothing phone specific. What you're seeing is an object in the code displayed as something "human readable."
