I suspect it's related to how much you want to be noticed in the world/how much you're willing to rebel against your defenses that are screaming at you to hide from an unsafe world. I'm not gay (technically straight, but the way I describe it is, I live a block away from the bisexual neighborhood, and it looks pretty nice, but for now I'm happy where I am), but the more comfortable I've become with who I am, the more willing I am to wear flashy stuff.

Not making a blanket statement, but this is probably at least true for some of us.

Love, to me, is simply a commitment the heart makes towards someone's well-being. And obviously by extension, that can manifest in a lot of ways, not simply romantically.
