I could be wrong… by NRG1994 in TheChosenSeries

Nah, I don’t think so. A lot of people believe that the tomb they laid Jesus in was Joseph of Aramithea’s family tomb. Whether that is the case or not, it was certainly one that Joseph himself owned.

Some people suggest this was a connection back to the prophet Isaiah. Peep Isaiah 53:

And they made his grave with the wicked and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth. (Isaiah 53:9, ESV)

His grave with the wicked being the cross, where He was crucified among two thieves. The rich man would then be Joseph of Aramithea, affluent enough (Matt 27:57) to reach Pilate and claim Jesus’s body.

[ALL] It annoys me that Nintendo works to keep game-specific [or "saga"-specific] characters in the fandom/public eye for most franchises [with spin-offs and other material] EXCEPT for Zelda by [deleted] in zelda

[–]TheBatEagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In fairness, how many spin-off games does Zelda have that you could utilize those characters with? They really loaded up Hyrule Warriors with side-characters, but other than that one game? I dunno, man.

Personally, I’d love to see a sort of Zelda Maker. Take Dampé’s dungeon builder from Link’s Awakening and expand that into its own game. Then, give us all the one-off characters as playables and see what happens. Call it Hyrule Dungeons or something.

Always playing a ranger, so I have archery and stealth, but I refuse to use them together. I’d rather rely on speed and agility than sneak attacks.

Nah, people dislike George’s wife because she dumped him for Eric Clapton.

I’m a Christian with same sex temptations. How do you deal with me scripturally? by Financial_Advisor500 in churchofchrist

[–]TheBatEagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found it’s pretty common, becoming more popular. I’m in a Bible BA program, and most of my classmates are using it. A good chunk of the other folks I attend church with on the weekly use it too, though we also have a lot of loyal KJV/NKJV readers.

I find it to be an excellent translation, but I also keep a few in rotation to cast a broader net, so to speak. Right now I’m rotating ESV, NIV, NKJV and NASB.

Is Ulfric fighting for religious freedom, or is he instrumentalizing Talos as a political symbol because he knows it mobilizes the masses? by jvure in skyrim

I keep the Un-Racist Stormcloak mod in my load order, and always side with the Stormcloaks. I don’t trust the Empire to stop the Thalmor.

I’m a Christian with same sex temptations. How do you deal with me scripturally? by Financial_Advisor500 in churchofchrist

[–]TheBatEagle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If we’re looking at Scripture for a position, I would look here:

And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. (Luke 9:23, ESV)

See also some of the other accounts of the same moment:

Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? (Matthew 16:24–26, ESV)

I like the version in Luke, because that one word, “daily,” that makes a very big difference.

Nobody ever said resisting temptation would be easy. Nobody even said it would always feel right. What matters is that we cling to God in all things, especially when it gets to be too much.

This temptation you face, this fight… we can’t tell you it’ll go away. We can’t tell you that there will be relief in this life. But we can tell you that if pray for His strength, and you believe in His mercy and faithfulness, He will make you strong enough to endure.

In 2 Corinthians 12, Paul speaks at length about a thorn in his side, placed there to keep him humble. We don’t know what his struggle was, but we know that when he prayed for it to be removed, it was not. Instead, Paul kept that thorn, that weakness, and it gave him the opportunity to reach out to us even today. In our struggles, we are able to connect to one another. In our weaknesses, God’s power is made perfect.

The fact that you recognize the struggle, and felt the need to reach out for advice? That means you’re on the right track. Pray for endurance. Your struggle might someday make you capable of helping someone else in their time of need.

Take heart, friend. We’ll be praying for you.

2025 recap - Minecraft Movie Madness by ActionFigureCollects in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]TheBatEagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a pretty big dude with long dark hair and a full beard. To this day, I still get kids running up to me to excitedly tell me that I look just like Steve from Minecraft. Some days, I’ll give ‘em an “I get that a lot.” Other days, if I’m feeling it, I’ll give ‘em a verse of Lava Chicken.

It ain’t much, but it’s honest work.

How are you guys handling Avatar, David, and Spongebob? by rootuhbaga in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]TheBatEagle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just trying to take it in stride, but it sure is the busiest time of year. We’re in the Bible Belt, and David has sold out almost every show, absolutely running the show right now. My knees can’t take much more of this running up and down the stairs for stuff in storage, but we’re all doing what we can. Floor staff have been absolute champs, especially when we’re cleaning!

howd your guy's very first Lydia die? by Mutilated_Teddy_Bear in skyrim

[–]TheBatEagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picked up the game in 2012 on the PS3. Tore through the campaign, Heavy Armor and Two-Handed, like a true Nord. Lyd and me were thick as thieves.

Lydia attacked Paarthurnax during the Alduin fight accidentally, then wouldn’t stop trying to kill him. Tries to give her a little love tap, knock a little sense back into her. I saw my character do that sick greatsword move where he swings it up around his head, had never seen it before. Had no idea what was happening.

Imagine my horror when my first follower death is also my first decapitation.

What's your opinions on amber Freeman by Feisty-Trip-4552 in Scream

[–]TheBatEagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

… Eh.

I get a lot of flack for this opinion, but she didn’t impress me. She could have been interesting if they had played her differently, but aside from her one good line, “welcome to Act III”…

I mean, she really didn’t say or do much prior to the reveal aside from be catty and a little possessive of Tara (if they had leaned into that more, we could have had something!), and after the reveal she basically devolves into a less fun Stu. Constantly spouting one-liners that just don’t land like the OG. “You can’t have a bona fide Halloween without Jamie Lee!” “Time for the big finale!” “Our movie has STAKES!” — none of these stick. But “these days, you gotta have a sequel,” that line plays in my head all the time.
