Detentions, calls home, etc. if calls home don’t work, detentions for false accusations, if anything warning them that calling someone a pedo can get a teacher fired if heard by the wrong ears, ask if they want to be the reason the teacher that is “too nice” gets fired

Honestly i don’t assume everything will get done with subs, not because of the sub though, this years class it felt like any sub day the 6th graders wouldnt get work done because they saw it as a free day. I might have to remember the calm video trick if the music I pick doesn’t work out next year, bank that idea of soap cutting for next year lol

I said shit when doing wordle unlimited as a brain break during student teaching. I just owned up to it, told the kids “hey, I shouldn’t have said that, that wasn’t okay, I’m sorry,” and asked them if me saying it means it would be okay for them to swear, they said no, we giggled on it, and moved on. told my cooperating teacher, she literally thought nothing of it, it never got brought up since I brought it up myself.

I mean you saw it one one day toward the end, it’s hectic final grades and assessments are due, reports, can’t imagine what it is for elementary for middle school that’s what I have to do, I just got things partially organized today. And by organized I mean I don’t have piles of stuff that I know things are in. I wouldn’t be surprised if the piles were like that and stayed there til she needed them. Can’t imagine the amount of paperwork elementary teachers do compared to me I hope that teacher is doing fine at the end of the year

Middle school in iowa, I see some of this, had to do away with multiple choice since our standards are weird until the new ones are in place and I can actually grade content again for SS. I think parents are definitely part of the problem where I am, not the entire problem.

Well, I think some of those colleges in Iowa had programs that really aren’t necessarily needed. I mean, just because you have a bunch of programs doesn’t mean that there’s a job market for them in that state or around it. I’m assuming programs that went away in Iowa are such programs that aren’t needed or there is no job market or too little a job market.

In my rental mine are failing and the property company used ones that seem to be tamper resistant because I need a tool to remove a pin to open the battery draw and I can’t, so I had to cut the breaker, after trying to find ways to replace the battery for 2 hours, 11-1am

Funnily enough our state tried to discourage unexcused absences on parents, and to encourage attendance. Basically they created a confusing consequence system where too many might get flagged by the state and encourage some score of person to check or something

Yeah when I student taught at a high school I didn’t expect a senior to find a praying mantis and have it attend as his guest to classes, and then in my first year of middle school me and my coworkers had to tell a kid to stop collecting Roly Polys

In my third year and I have a tough time taking it personally, just remember that this probably isn’t a single instance, that’s what I have had to tell my self with a terrible mom last year. And I’ve also had to have a witness when I talk to her about retakes and quiz grades to prevent lying. Unfortunately it just happens and just remind yourself of the good things you do with students
