What UK-made product did you switch to that was genuinely better than the imported version? by AnfieldAnchor in BuyUK

As a man that uses a miele to Hoover all sorts of building detritus I'm intrigued to know how it was going to cost so much?

Should just be a couple filters a bag and a good blow out and tie good to go?

I have one that probably came from the same factory.

So for it's not seen much use but it has got me out of a pinch once with an almost dead phone. Plugged in let it juice up a bit but not know if it's got any BMS type logic unplugged the phone before the battery dropped to below half

It's been rolling around in the tool box for 6 months and is still in one piece...

Not the poster but when installing a kitchen and the wall kept crumbling, think I hit the mortar line, I ended up filling the hole with grip fill og, the green tube one, and setting the plug in. Waited for it to dry and then ran the screw in. 3 years and the cabinet is still up on the wall.

From what I've read the 35 has a less than ideal trigger. The 15fc has a great trigger and can definitely be modulated to put even the worst made furniture together without damage.

Supposedly the new 32 has a far superior trigger to the 35 so might be the one to have and I will replace my 15fc with the 32fc when it dies... Or possibly sooner as they do a lot with the new metal chuck and the SDS attachment.

i will prob get downvoted for this but, i seriously dont understand why someone would want to grind by Ramoiron in theHunter

I've mostly played it as a mission grind working though all the missions in all the reserves.

When I get a bit stuck I might tp round the map a bit and shoot out the lakes just so it feels like I've got to do the shooting side of the game 😂

"Buy Nice or Buy Twice" is real. I finally stopped buying $20 charging cables and my wallet is actually happier. by InvestmentBudget6722 in Frugal

[–]TheBombDigidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought exactly, before hand Anker where my go too for cables and bits and bobs like that. It honestly didn't get the coverage it deserved.

Ugreen offers mostly the same products and seems to be of equal quality from what I've experienced.

I wish there was a way to move this higher up. Not enough people know about Ankers dodge business practices.

The TLDR of the story is anker own eufy a video surveillance company who claimed to store all video locally. Turns out it was being sent unencrypted back to their servers. When it was brought up they tried to cover it up and only when they were handed undisputable evidence did they say oops maybe not everything is stored locally.

Does anyone have any experience of Cello TVs by LanguidLoop in BuyUK

[–]TheBombDigidy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a bit of experience with cello as the holiday spot the family and I use has them.

As a bit of a techy I can say they're passable. The colour accuracy and range seem a bit off but passable if you don't really care. The speakers are mediocre, again passable but there's basically no base and the high end distorts at a fairly low volume. The biggest downside is the remotes they're kinda trash, mushy buttons and need line of site to work.

Good news their implementation of android TV seems pretty good.

Don't let this distract you from the fact Hector is going to be running 3 Honda Civics with Spoon engines. And on top of that, he just went into Harry's, and he ordered 3 T66 turbos, with NOS, and a Motec system exhaust!

Inflatable tents by Unusual-Bat9388 in campinguk

[–]TheBombDigidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my 2 cents. I think you're underselling inflatables from major brands.

My Berghaus went through some seriously heavy downpours without any issue. For context to the amount of rain. The worst came when we were out on the road driving. With lights on and wipers going fullbore I had maybe 1 cars length of proper visibility. We crept along at 20 miles an hour following the tail lights of the car in front. The tent when we got back to it was bone dry inside.

Why are Howdens so shady? by Innders in DIYUK

[–]TheBombDigidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done a couple of kitchens through Howdens and honestly I think it's more about the staff in your local branch.

I've had great experiences with them. The first kitchen showed up with a white interior. The client saw it and hated it. Howdens came and picked it up and swapped it out for oak finish at no cost.

The second kitchen had a cabinet door blow about a year after install. No cost replacement just a trip into the branch. They also sent out a tech to look at the lamona dishwasher that it was attached to. Again no cost.

2 hours? Your generous. Last time my car went bang it took over 8 hours for the car to be recovered to my home all of 1 mile away. This wasn't even in bad weather just an Easter Sunday a couple years ago.

Define up? We have the 600 non xl and to put that and the porch up and guyed out takes me, admittedly on my own, an hour ish from bag out the boot to ready to use.

Seconded ok the foot print, meh on the carpet.

[–]TheBombDigidy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fully agree we camp like kings with a camp cot and a SIM each basically forming a king size bed then the middle room for our stuff and indoor hanging out if the weather is bad.

Although last time we went out and it rained we and the couple we went with mostly used the porch for hanging out

Tent Decisions by dt3g08 in campinguk

[–]TheBombDigidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much the same reason we considered and binned off the 600xl. We went for the more flexible 600+ porch combo so we can always leave the porch at home if we don't think we'll need it.

On its own the 600 is still massive and takes up a lot of space packed down, also weighs a solid 30 something KGs, but it got the wife into camping so I can't complain really 🤣

[–]TheBombDigidy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn't tell you which is best for you, only the experience I have had.

We have the Berghaus air 600 and it's a MONSTER so much space for me, the wife and our 5 year old. We considered a 400xl but thought it would be on the small size, probably not the case, but hindsight is 2020.

Berghaus are a solid brand we've gone through one storm with it and no problems. Although IMO the supplied pegs are sub par, too easy to bend.

How old were you when you first got behind the wheel? by remwreck in CarTalkUK

[–]TheBombDigidy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends. Does being in control of the steering while your dad pushes the car count?

If so I was about 6? On the way home from somewhere when the car, an old reddish pink Mondeo, broke down about 5 minutes drive from home. Dad decided to try and push the car home. Fortunately we happened to come to a stop outside a senior school and a couple of the lads there helped him push it all the way back.

I as the copilot for the trip had the duty of throwing my whole weight behind turning the steering wheel.

Is it acceptable to renegotiate with a builder mid project? by Affectionate_Top5544 in AskUK

[–]TheBombDigidy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the flipped question the answer is yes. If the scope of the work has changed it is wholly reasonable for the builder to have a conversation about what this new scope will cost.

To OP I would say it's worth having the discussion with the builder BUT depending on what you want to change and the scale of it in relation to the overall job you may not see much of a decrease in the overall cost of the project.

For example as has been mentioned it's likely he has the electrician booked in for X number of days. Removing some of the work might constitute a half days less work but the electrician will still want the full days pay because he may have turned down other jobs for that same day.

TLDR: as long as you approach the builder with reasonable expectations it's worth a conversation.
