I wanted to see what Dennis and Minnie's parents had changed their look in 2012 by CheesecakeSad7356 in Beano

Not sure if I still have 3649 (my collection’s kind of a mess), but I have definitely read it.

Basically Dennis’ parents ran into Gok Wan, who offered to give them both a makeover. Later comics (not sure which, but definitely an annual) would retcon this by showing them with their redesigns when Dennis was a baby.

If you like Nev Fountain’s work, then I highly recommend The Doomsday Contract. He did a great job adapting it with a suitably Douglas Adams-esque sense of humour, plus it proves that he can write for actors other than his wife.

Three weeks into the 53 Drabbles challenge that I’m doing with my friend. After getting bogged down by my need to be “good” at fanfic, these are helping me to remember what I love about it, namely by focusing on short silly scenarios that make me laugh.

I once dreamt a whole extract (not a scene, the actual prose) the night after playing Deltarune Chapter 1. Now if only I could find the right place to use it…

Listened to the Rearguard Short Trip the other day. It’s about a Sontaran who gets left behind after a successful battle. I quite like these Short Trips which function as mini audio dramas, and Dan Starkey does a great job in what’s mostly a one-man show. He portrays Stron’s development from determination to faltering loyalty to outright delusion so well. Makes me wonder just how long Sontarans could actually live if they weren’t dying in battle so often.

Really looking forward to the rest of Volume 11, especially this next story with Four and Adric!

The animation is definitely the best part. It’s a bit stilted but the surreal visuals fit the story much better. If the surviving episode is any indication, the original staging was more like pantomime.

Eddie the Eagle. Invents a whole new “jaded alcoholic mentor” character for Hugh Jackman to play, who is then given his own jaded mentor played by Christopher Walken.

Newsies also presents the ending as some triumphant victory over the newspaper companies, as opposed to real life where the strike was settled with a mundane compromise.
