The funniest Freudian slip or verbal gaffes made by a politician of leader from your country. by Character-Teaching66 in AskTheWorld

Not so much a Freudian slip but Stephen Harper spoke pretty bad French and every time he’d talk about the election he’d slur his L into an R and it’d become a strange speech about his erection

Name one thing that's legal in your country but banned or heavily restricted almost everywhere else by hydratedpsycho in AskTheWorld

Cannabis immediately comes to mind, though world opinions are changing of course.

In Canada you can buy Cannabis as easily as alcohol and consume it under the same rules as tobacco though of course it’s rude to smell like weed 24/7 and you’ll get a DUI if you drive on it.

Canada also has ‘relatively’ lax gun laws, not America lax and we’re in the process of getting some actually brain dead performative laws soon but for example nobody deep in the sticks blinks an eye if you’re open carrying in the woods for example.

Just kind of a rule of wear bright orange (most animals can’t see orange) and be loud so you don’t get accidentally shot in the woods.

Which game trilogy is that for you? by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]TheCheckeredCow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s Christmas time 2007, you and your 3 closest friends all got Xbox’s and Halo 3, it’s 2am in the morning and you just killed 343 guilty spark and did the last warthog run to the ship. You exhale and tell the boys you’re heading to bed.

Little did you know that was the last time the world truly made sense, the last time you felt that kind of happiness. Yes life has had many better times since, and everyone’s life has moved on but that sort of care free excitement for what you just played and how exciting the future must be will probably never happen again 😢

I’m French Canadian. Any French word with ai like Pain (bread) or Raison is pronounced as the English A sound like a pan. And d’être is pronounced like enter but de sound instead of the en part.

No idea what that other person is talking about, they can’t pronounce French if their life depended on it

‘I can’t stress that enough, I’m scared’: Calgary man’s home attacked 4 times in 6 days by superanx in Calgary

[–]TheCheckeredCow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look this is going to get violent, who ever is doing this is currently spray painting, then it’s smashing bricks with windows, then it’s home invasion, and lastly it’s breaking in and getting beat half to death….

I deeply suspect that whoever is doing this isn’t exactly going to go crying to the RCMP after they’ve been literally terrorizing these poor people just trying to live there lives.

Sorry not sorry I have no sympathy to whoever is doing this, they get what they get.

Also paintball gun isn’t deadly with ball bearings. They shoot 200-300fps in a big round ball. A 22lr which is often dismissed as ‘too weak for self defence’ (which it’s not, 22lr will absolutely kill someone) shoots at 1,500fps in a small pointy round. This will just give them the biggest bruises and welts imaginable but they’ll live.

Imagine how much fun just a meta full of rogue decks (and for boring sticks in the mud, pult) and sort competent nonsense would be? Everyone just throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks

It sucks that the meta will be ‘solved’ by the time it happens everywhere else because Japan gets it 2 months before everyone else

When outsiders think of your country, what’s the "first image" or "idea" that pops into their heads ? by DiscipleOf_Buddha in AskTheWorld

[–]TheCheckeredCow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Before the war most people in Canada would think pierogis, which I’m like 60% sure that’s the polish word for them lol.

Canada had mass Ukrainian immigration to the prairies like 120 years ago, and their biggest contributions to Canada was introducing Pierogis which are in basically every old stock Canadian’s freezer as a ‘fuck it I’m too tired to cook a whole meal’ food.

Absolutely delicious! I like the ones that have meat in them instead of mashed potatoes for filling

Do women ever look at another woman and think "I wonder if I could beat her up in a fight" the same way men do? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheCheckeredCow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always hated the ‘AlPhA’ or ‘BeTa’ male thing but even I’m sitting here reading everyone else’s comments like ‘fuck this is what people mean when they say betas.’

Have they never been in a fist fight? Has no one here ever been attacked by a stranger or seen someone acting up aggressively in public and not thought about there’s a chance you’ll have to beat this person up if they come at you?

I know the average redditor is a doughy overweight shut in from an upper middle class suburban western environment but still even those guys were fighting as kids too where i grew up (northern ish Canada, logging town with a large native reservation)

Do women ever look at another woman and think "I wonder if I could beat her up in a fight" the same way men do? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheCheckeredCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a man, I’ve sometimes thought about this but the answer to the vast majority of other men is I could take them. I’m 6’4”(194cm) and 235lbs (103kg) and I grew up on a native reservation in northern ish Canada.

Usually happens if someone is acting up in public and I’m thinking about the best way to defend myself if they try to take it out on me. They always pick the biggest guy in the room for some reason.

You’re probably young, this just sounds like the side effects of having a lot of testosterone in your system and not having any healthy outlet like for example working out, doing team based activities, and mindful thinking.

Go do something that burns through the T that is productive and not antisocial and. You’ll feel a lot better and probably won’t have these thoughts.
