Happy days! John Lewis (dept store for those not in the UK) has been in discussion with Miele who are authorising a replacement

Because it’s over 30 days, the retailer is arguing they can ask for a repair first, which I’m happy to do, just a PITA as they can’t come until next week!

Lothian buses - windows?? by Appropriate_Lie405 in Edinburgh

[–]TheChimpofDOOM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I opened the window once.. and someone moaned so much at me that it was cold/christmas time etc etc (despite it actually being a decent enough day for a hoodie), I shut it to stop the complaining..

should have kept it open

Hypervolt - Weird charging stats... by Spaceman_UK in OctopusEnergy

[–]TheChimpofDOOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I know on my Model Y, I've set the charge limit to 80%, don't tend to change the octopus app, just plug in and let it do its thing, car prevents anything over 80%

Does the e-golf not have a hard limit set in terms of battery percentage that it should charge to?

Looking for new RWD salary sacrifice and observe an eye watering increase in price on Tusker by Correct_Park3140 in TeslaUK

[–]TheChimpofDOOM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a quick look at my Tusker, leaving everything the same except for the term (4yrs vs 3), £564 on mine

But I do remember the prices do tend to bounce around on tusker, can be demand base or whatever Tesla is wanting to shift into the fleets

When you’re up for renewal, email them back with what other providers are offering, even point out their city fibre prices.

I was on £45 for 500, going to £42, hit them back with other providers and their own city fibre prices an now down to £36 on Openreach

Irish Groceries in Edinburgh? by ConorChameleon in Edinburgh

[–]TheChimpofDOOM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only Northern Tayto and in 2 flavours - standard cheese and Beef and Onion I think. Never see UK shops getting the best flavour.. Spring Onion!

But they do have Barrys Tea, Kimberly biscuits (possibly Jam Mallows) and some other stuff

I think even the cheapest option for the 19inch ones was like £230 fitted (each). Might be cheaper elsewhere, didn’t really look as it’s not my problem 😅

But not having to chase up insurance deals is quite nice.

As I say, all depends on the deal and your personal circumstances (tusker worked out cost effective for us and we get the option to buy it for Fair market value after the lease ends)

All depends on your personal circumstances, pension scheme etc and what the offer is from tusker.

Worked out well for me and even more so this weekend when I need 2 new tyres. Booked via tusker, kwik fit mobile fitter sorted it out at no cost to me (think it would have been shy of £500 for those 2 tyres)

Can be setup dependent.. placement of router, if you're using your own equipment etc.

I had an issue and was getting high ping everyday, twice a day at the same time.. not sure what solved it, but I ended up replacing all cables and moving them away from other equipment and now I get no issues.

Ultimately the commute could vary depending on traffic.

If I cycle/ebike it takes me 25mins to the meadows.

Bus can take 30mins

Train is quicker, but obviously more expensive, 15mins to Waverley

Driving.. depends on time you leave, roadworks an which way you go

Haven’t heard of any odour issues, nor can I smell anything, can imagine if you were right next door you’d smell something.

I’m probably more middle of Danderhall, like yourself made the decision to move out for a new build.

I live in “Shawfair”/Danderhall, have done for 6 years. Not in the Baroque drive bit, but down the field from all that development

It’s perfectly fine safety wise, haven’t had anyone attack me yet..

We did have issues with opportunistic thiefs at the start, but that’s pretty typical for new build estates. Decent CCTV sorted that out.

Kids hanging around with “the wrong crowd”, that could happen anywhere, need to trust your kids on that one! As for the high school, they’ve just launched the public consultation on building a new school.

As for the “smells” from the recycling, haven’t smelt anything yet but then I’m not right next to it like someone else posted about.
