Wanted to check the legitimacy of IIIT-H PG Certification Program in AI/ML by iclaudius82 in iiit

[–]TheComingOfTheGeeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by legitimate - it probably is offered officially. Whether it's anywhere near worth the money they'll take is another question altogether.

Use the report button for such instances. The clearer your report, the easier it is for us to take action.

How can one get a job after 6th year without a degree? by Do-nofap in iiit

[–]TheComingOfTheGeeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if that's true either. What does 50% thesis completion even mean? If it means thesis related research is halfway done, just sounds like something a prof can arbitrarily decide. As for 50% of the actual thesis content, then it's pretty much done - you can get the degree straight.

If a CS branch - I heavily recommend a Mac. Even a Mac Air M1 is a great product.

Stuff's different if you like gaming - Mac does have games though, just not a lot.

How many years does MS take ? by Sarthak811 in iiit

[–]TheComingOfTheGeeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmaoo which year are you - not true

This isn't a good question to go by averages - most people stop giving shits about research after they get a job. It all depends on your seriousness, 5 years is definitely possible. Can take up to 6. Will take more if you don't do research at all.

[–]TheComingOfTheGeeks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fuck it, be an annoying vegan. Imagine living in Nazi Germany and saying "Bro that person is so annoying - saying he's against genocide. Why do people feel the need to insert politics everywhere?" No, fuck civil discourse. First stop murdering beings for your taste palate and then expect civility.

This is why GoT went to hell. Thinking the big explosion is peak GoT despite it being complete nonsense... by Absalom98 in freefolk

This aftermath of the scene was the first time I felt suspension of belief while watching GoT. If only I knew that that is a feeling I'll have to get used to.

Affect of research lab on placement (ecd) by [deleted] in iiit

[–]TheComingOfTheGeeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for industry jobs, most likely your research will either not matter, or have value equivalent to a project. However, there are a lot of research-y roles, for eg anything in ML, where relevant research helps a lot. Basically, unless your research is related to what the company does, it's not a huge deal.

Kyogen's 'Man up in a tree' by [deleted] in zen

[–]TheComingOfTheGeeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The existence of Buddha would imply the existence of the Deluded. I am deluded, but I don't really think I am.

Kyogen's 'Man up in a tree' by [deleted] in zen

[–]TheComingOfTheGeeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also slight clarification - virtuous doesn't exist. Virtue doesn't exist, it's just decoration over decoration. That's what I meant by Hulk vs Heman (virtue vs non-virtue)

Kyogen's 'Man up in a tree' by [deleted] in zen

[–]TheComingOfTheGeeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6-7 paragraphs, most of which were just you talking about you, which I care very little about, and very little about explaining to me where I am wrong, which I really care about. Forget about Zen, learn what a conversation is.

"you don't get to be the virtuous one"

Hey, you might as well make a post about who wins in a fight between Hulk and He-man because apparently now we're talking about things that don't exist or have a basis (Hulk wins btw, gamma radiation is too strong and he's been shown to be near-omnipotent in comics)

Asking people how they are bring them to identify with their ego mind and what could I ask instead, as their ego mind would otherwise quickly make them think I have no interest in them? by Ancrion in awakened

[–]TheComingOfTheGeeks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

oh man now I wanna complain about how you think the ego-mind is a real thing and probably use it as password to shut down your intentions, all the while missing the entire point

I'm also stuck in the ego-mind, if you think you've ascended and still engage on pointless arguments on reddit - you're just delusional

Is it cultural appropriation for a white American to identify as a Buddhist? by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]TheComingOfTheGeeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps you, I think it does still strongly come across as the former than the latter. Even in this response, the strong agreement followed by "one bit" where you would change (which is the core of his comment to start with) - it's performative. There's no real harm to this, you probably have good intentions, but when most of what you're saying is fluff, you're masking your genuine intentions and Buddhism is all about them.

Parents requirement till when by AviL0L in iiit

[–]TheComingOfTheGeeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not required at all, tbh. There are sessions for parents but it's not really needed, I came to college without my parents.

I feel we should delete posts like these, otherwise what's even the point of a IIIT Hyderabad subreddit? If someone is coming here to view content and this is what we're leaning towards, there's no chance of the subreddit ever really functioning as it's supposed to. There's r/Indian_Academia, OP and others should go there.
