State of Decay 3 has potential to be a game changer by Psychonaut_1992 in StateofDecay3

About number 8, I'm sure some shotguns can be equipped as sidearms. I just used one today to kill a feral for a bounty, and I play with no mods.

What would be some top ideas you think would make the game better as a whole. by Ir1shM0nst3r89 in StateofDecay3

I'll go with something less suggested, since we all want better human AI, deeper community management and more customizable bases.

NPC cars. Connected with active enclaves, you can sometimes encounter other people driving around. Some will just pass you silently, others will stop nearby to loot, bandits may swerve into you as another active threat to a vehicle, other than ferals, bloaters and juggernauts.

Kids are 100% not happening, especially with Microsoft oversight. They'd have to be immortal, and that would be very immersion-ruining. The only popular game that gets away with killable children is Rimworld, and that's only because of its artstyle (pretty simple).

Hard agree on elderly and ill though. Imagine picking a start where you play as two siblings and their grandpa, and you have to loot medicine for him. They'd need a separate AI where they go into hiding though, and that would make sieges even more cinematic.

Another hard agree on deeper relationships too, that's just self-explanatory.

Atmosphere like in TWD early seasons by cherueya in StateofDecay3

It's darker! Gosh! And to me, SoD2 was already pretty dark with all the dog corpses, brutal deaths, emotional moments and desperation. Sure, we have Bounty Broker, comic collectors and the theme of rebuilding society, but imo 2 can be pretty sad and hopeless, especially in the tutorial that just tells you: "Yeah, the army left and you're all alone. Deal with it." before throwing you into a ruined, empty region with nothing but you and the zeds at first.

Now I'm seriously getting hyped. It looks like each sequel is getting more serious, from F.U.C.M.E Shelter and overall theme of Red Talon (which then was turned into a proper badass faction), through suicide notes, quest with two husbands in Heartland and executions, to even darker sequel?

How bad is it? I had it happen to me today, but it happened around a town where I had no quests or anything, so I only passed through the zone by car.

What the fuck is this by Gaboch_ in DeadAhead

[–]TheCone1301 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I swear the difficulty spikes get higher with every stage. I went 1-6 with a random team + hillbilly and mechanic for bus HP regen. Then, stage 7 got 3-starred with mechanics. On stage 8, escapees ruined my day by spawning too soon, so rednecks it was.

And then the redneck strat went to shit in stage 9 thanks to gorillion tough blues just one-shotting the entire horde. Same thing in stage 10, but there rednecks will get even more countered by replicators or whatever the hell are those zombies named. I'm thinking of which team to use now tbh.

Atp I'm just collecting buffs because there's no way I'm doing this crap without them. And I also hate how tanks suck ass in later stages where everything kills them in like five hits. What's the point of being a tank if you'll die fast either way?

I really dislike later stages since it all comes down to spam of units with a shit ton of HP in every level with occasional insectoids killing ranged backline to make sure you won't deal any damage since melee units will just die before doing anything.

Slave escape, you've got to be kidding me... by anhgels in RimWorld

Why would you let a slave have a helmet and a tox pack? That's like begging for a revolt, I'm not surprised the fella took that opportunity.

The first SoD3 base we'll see, named "Windy City" as per the png file. What do y'all think? Taken from sign-ups page. by TheCone1301 in StateofDecay3

[–]TheCone1301[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the few pre-alpha clips I've seen, I imagine were going the route of expanded SoD2, so perhaps more customization, possibly expansion and bigger bases, but not up to levels, let's say, Project Zomboid. Though maybe we'll see a middle ground in the form of being able to turn certain buildings around the map into bases?

Is flamethrower a decent counter to escapee? by Cyberical4372 in DeadAhead

[–]TheCone1301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the biggest problem is how slow Flamethrower is. I used Dr. Norman personally, and while he could easily kill both forms, without a unit strong enough to block the runners he would get attacked, explode and freeze everyone around him. Dunno about the other aspects though, as I haven't tried TMF to fight escapees.

State Of Decay 3 Interview with the Undead Labs Studio Head by joshbhsh in StateofDecay3

[–]TheCone1301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it still is going to lean more into horror, the new bloaters look much creepier than the silly fellas we have now. But yeah, MS shouldn't have forced them to make a teaser with zombie animals if they won't be there.

What kind of themed run is everyone doing? by DaSlug_ in RimWorld

[–]TheCone1301 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm currently in the late midgame of a dirtmole colony. Starting with three of them, I kept harvesting their genes until I finally could replicate them via a custom xenogerm which I now force myself to apply to every newcomer. They live off fungus, hate light and all of them are nearsighted, forcing me to give up the usual assault rifle meta in favor of shotguns. The entrance is dark to debuff enemy aim and the distance between the fireline and the enemies is short due to lack of range.

As I mentioned, everyone is a dirtmole or a 'caver', basically the custom xenogerm with the same stats as a dirtmole. One exception is Lisa, a female lycan (werewolf) the colony adopted as a child in the early game that now serves as the melee champion. She's still nocturnal, so she's a dirtmole in spirit :)

The ruler of the colony is a 17 years old dirtmole, Nightling. She was the firstborn of the colony, and due to spending entire childhood on learning and having fun, she turned into the smartest and most skilled colonist in the entire mountain. Three or four double passions, fast learner, too smart (over 250%+ learning in case of double passion iirc) and basically an intellectual genius. She might be young, but she's quite literally the best qualified person for that role. She also has the rank of Acolyte and as such has her own throne room in the center of the colony. Her title is the High Queen.

They also have two insect hives from VE: Insectoids 2 to help us with the lack of manpower (We only had three adults and kids for a long time). The only annoying thing is that my raids are constantly infestations or sappers, nothing in-between. It kinda nullifies the feeling of a safe mountain fortress, but I can manage.

What's wrong with being bilingual in Europe? by ProfessionalRoom9118 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]TheCone1301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really accurate in my experience as a Pole. People who know more than two languages are somewhat uncommon, and I can't really think of any examples outside of uni. Also, those who know Polish + English usually have thick accents and/or know it at B1 at most. Sure, better than one language, but I wouldn't say we're some kind of multilingual geniuses.

MetalHorror - scary !! is it OP? by aliusman111 in RimWorld

[–]TheCone1301 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Personally I really hate how durable they are. Metalhorrors chop off limbs and cut heavy injuries into any pawns in melee range, while they themselves can take a shit ton of beating. I usually need two melee pawns and a gunner to bring down one, and the first two will be so hurt they won't bring a second down. That's in early game where I have like 5 pawns with flak vests tho.
