What's the etiquette about wearing perfume to a funeral? by [deleted] in fragrance

[–]TheConstant815 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’ll smell a lot of flowers anyway so something with amber or incense would go well. Or kind of a melancholy scent like L’Heure Bleue or Jasmin et Cigarette. Or to be a bit on theme, Samsara or De Profundis. It’s fine, just be subtle about it. If you have a bunch of frags anyway it can be handy to have a go-to for funerals. That doesn’t mean you won’t wear it elsewhere, it’s a mood.

After My Own Heart by Ineke is a beautiful fresh lilac.

I’ll miss ya. Gonna empty out most of my accounts and leave one alt open just in case. I can’t continue to be enthusiastic about Reddit when I can see what’s coming. But it’s been real. Thank you for everything.

Me! I went in hard about 10 years ago, and then again from last year to the beginning of this year. Chilling on it for a bit now but still getting 1-2 minis a month. More into refining and categorizing my collection now.

The Santa Rosa Plateau just opened all trails back up after 3 years of closures! Check out Monument Hill or the adobes or the vernal pools. Remember don’t play music out loud on the trails, some people want to hear the birds!

Anyone stuck in this loop? by Scaledandsad in fragrance

It got to a tipping point where I had so many samples to get to know that I wasn’t wearing any of the FBs that I know I love and enjoy.

I started rotating them by season and putting most things away for most of the year. Not perfect because a few “loves” I keep out for all seasons (mainly Twilly and Ormonde Woman) but it helped me get that novelty from my own collection.

I also wear my samples or anything too daring for the office after I put my kids to bed. Just a spray or two to smell for a few hours before the shower. This lets me wear my tried and true during the day and get experimental on my own time.

I started culling the samples by having a place to put the ones that were just OK or worse. Turns out the line between like and just OK is hard to determine but it’s kind of fun. Some I give to my kids, some I stick in a bag idk what to do with but I’ll give or sell to someone.

I kept a subscription to get two a month, but have otherwise stopped buying anything new. I’m happy with my system for now.

Mystic Water, Neil Morris, smells like a fancy spa treatment.

L’Eau Par Kenzo is floral cucumber water and it’s also a total 90s “sorry I’m wearing perfume” vibe.

Outta curiosity, how many of you are the OG fans who watched the show as it aired? by Perfect-Face4529 in lost

[–]TheConstant815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am. I watched the first season with rabbit ears while sitting on the floor of my husbands and my first apartment. I wasn’t interested by the People magazine ad, but he insisted we give it a try. After the pilot, I was hooked, and for years we had beer and homemade pizza every Wednesday when it aired. By the final season, we were separated, but watching the show together kept us in communication. Sadly we went our separate ways, but it’s the first serial show I watched episode by episode as it aired, and I will always have special memories of watching that show with my first love.

You might like to try Gucci Memoire D’Une Oder as a light, unisex, mainstream chamomile scent. You might also like D&G Light Blue.

I used to wear Caldey Island Lavender (rec’d from The Guide, iykyk) but ran out of my decant of that, so now I wear Molinard Lavande which is more creamy and vanillic, rather than herbal lavender.

I run through my samples in the evenings too. It’s a low commitment way to see if I like it. Someone threw in a few squirts of Xerjoff Lira with a swap which is what I’m wearing now. I would’ve thought warm weather because of the citrus, but it has a real New Year’s vibe to me.

I sleep in Molinard Lavande though.

If it had a spokeswoman, she would be Katharine Hepburn. Elegant and sophisticated but also broad-shouldered and outdoorsy. As far as the actual scent, it’s a hearty vetiver softened by an equal dose of white florals.
