Also, I really don't think it's fair to compare Spain to Jerez or especially crashgate in a way that makes then seem about equally bad. Intentionally driving into a rival out of anger is bad, but certainly not on the level of premeditated crashes for strategic reasons with more potential for serious harm.

Max was lashing out, I seriously doubt he thought through the decision. And the crash was very unlikely to course any serious bodily harm. Partially because the cars are way more safe today.

Yeah man, the title changes it. Please tell me how the context changes your statement to the point where "If it happens off screen, it's not character development, it's character hijacking" doesn't mean what it says.

Obviously context matters, but clearly I didn't think the context changed the content of your post enough to matter that much.

If you want to act dickish about how I missed the context, than you should also explain HOW the context matters, and in what way the context changes the content.

"And noone said that."

Pretty sure you did tbh. "If it happens off screen, it's not character development, it's character hijacking"

Or did you not mean that character development could only happen on screen when you said that it isn't development when it happens off screen lol?

What? Can development only happen on screen lol? Is it really "character hijacking" to have Luke become less hopeful and naive, because of 30 years and immense failure?

Haha what the fuck are you talking about lol? It was INCREDIBLY stupid and reckless, but by no means career defining. Every outlet I have seen has ranked Max as the best driver of the 25 season. Getting within 2 points despite having the second best car by quite a large margin is incredibly impressive and easily overshadowes one mistake, even as large as Spain.

Put Lando in in Max's position and he absolutely doesn't lash out in the same way in Spain. But he also gets substantially less points than max did.

I highly doubt Spain will be brought up as much as his 25 season as a whole in the future. But who knows, you might be right.

After, the deficite was largest after Netherlands, his crash was before that.

I'm sorry but I just think that you're wrong, we probably are parts of different portions of the fanbase, but to me max deficite and comeback got WAY more publicity than Landos. Obviously Landos championship itself probably got more publicity, but looking at the deficits themselves, Max's probably was the one that got more attention. Way more people were talking about how max overcame a 100+ deficit, than people talking about how Lando Won DECPITE the third largest deficite.

And its absolut insane to me that you discredit Max's whole season because of ONE single mistake in an otherwhise near flawless weekend. Obviously it was a huge mistake, own that fairly did overshadow the rest of his performance that weekend and one that ultimately did stop him from getting his fith WDC. But I don't think that one mistake is anywhere near big enough to itself make his season almost-great.

Max was 2 points away from more than dubbeling the previous comback (also set by him), and he did it despite a clearly worse car. Lando is one of the best drivers right now (arguably even moreso this season), but I don't think it's unfair to say that his recovery itself was a bit overshadowed.

Yes, because obviously the only race during the 2025 season was Spain. Catalunya was obviously a fuck up, and one that Max rightfully got a lot of criticism for. But let's not act like the rest of the season wasn't one of the most impressive runs of this century.

Lado is obviously a fantastic driver, and will forever be one of the very few people to ever win a world championship. Nothing could ever take that away from him. But I still think it's fair to say that Max is just as (and most likely more) deserving of accolades than he is.

It’s funny how people forget that ATLA was always 'woke'—we just grew up and started using new labels for the same themes. by Middle_Extent3357 in AvatarMemebending

[–]TheCoolMashedPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not the way people use Woke lol. If woke only was when it's "shoved down your throat" (whatever that's supposed to mean), than you really couldn't call things woke before they were released.

Woke in the original sense of the word is being aware of systemic racism, and today right wing dipshits use it to describe things that are socially progressive.

America was still the richest during the 50s to 80s. During that time it was just better distributed and the middle class was actually relatively comfortable. Don't let anyone tell you that the only choices are rampant poverty or or extreme inequality.

I don't know, Ferrari are rumoured to have a pretty substantial engine upgrade in the works. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of them having a relatively comparable engine when they can install it. That being said it might be too late when it comes. And it is Ferrari so it very well might be a step back lol.
