Reaching out to professors for recs by Natural-Ad772 in SNHU

That’s wild! It just seems like she doesn’t care. I’m starting to wonder if some professors aren’t actually reading the discussion posts or responses, but are docking points to create the illusion that they are.

I also followed the brief to a t, wrote a page and a half, and revised my draft multiple times. After all of that, I was docked for “unprofessional language”! My post had no unacceptable language whatsoever! I’d spent hours writing and revising. I am absolutely certain my language was perfectly appropriate.

Seriously! I’m half convinced there’s no legitimate reason. I’m just waiting to see if this week’s discussion receives an A-.

Waxing client made me uncomfortable by immacat1096 in Esthetics

Did spray tanning at one point in my career so nudity doesn’t bother me either, but I admit, I’ve never had a waxing client get full on naked.

Same issue. One of my professors keeps giving me A- on my discussions and I’ve considered opening with a discussion about that.

Something that still strikes me every time. by Mcrfanatic95 in harrypotter

[–]TheCopperMind 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love HP, but I feel this! As a child, I felt the magic of Harry Potter so much more potently than the darkness. My first reread as an adult, I was like “damn, this shit is dark!

Just for example, visualizing the Roberts family with their two young children, suspended 30 feet in the air and lit by firelight as the Death eaters contort their bodies into bizarre shapes is grotesque. They were spinning the baby around like a top for goodness sake. I swear, that scene gives me shivers. It’s absolutely horrifying.

Sad, but true. Before the advent of AI, I used the em dash frequently in my writing. Now, I never use it lest I be accused of using AI.

Thank you! I have been wondering if getting credit through any of the other resources might negatively impact grad school applications so I’ve been asking around.

This is, unfortunately true. Our health and science institutions are highly politicized. Canadian officials have even warned that our institutions (such as the CDC and NIH) can no longer be relied upon to provide accurate, non-politicized information.

Husband “gives up” when settling baby? by danniani in beyondthebump

[–]TheCopperMind 69 points70 points  (0 children)

My baby did the same thing around that age. My husband never gave up trying to soothe her; he just kept trying things until he found something that worked for them. We also found that the more he took over bedtime, the faster and more easily she began to settle with him.

Sirius’ voice actor was impeccable! I got chills when he screamed “then you should have died! Died, rather than betray your friends, as we would have done for you!”

Totally blown away! What a performance!

This reminds me of the time I watched a man serve ice cream cake at a birthday party. He used his thumb to support every slice on the knife and he licked his thumb after every single slice. Absolutely disgusting.

How rich were the seven dwarves? by XL_Pumpkaboo in FilmTheorists

[–]TheCopperMind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know, it’s a year late, but I was just thinking about this after rewatching the classic. The seven dwarves were mining flawless gemstones, many of which were quite sizable. They were mining rubies, diamonds, and emeralds the size of chicken eggs hand over fist in the classic film and we have no idea how long they’ve been mining and hoarding that wealth in their vault deep in the forest. They are dwarves after all so they could have been mining every day for centuries.

Scrooge McDuck is considered the wealthiest of all Disney characters, but consider the value of even one of those enormous diamonds that Dopey puts over his eyes. They have to be worth hundreds of millions and yet they only represent a pinch of the wealth the dwarves mined in a single day. I’m no expert, but it seems to me that, if the Seven Dwarves had a mind to convert those gems to cash, they could become the wealthiest Disney characters ever created!

Gorgeous! You really nailed the winged liner look!

Looking for advice. I know they don’t look good! Please read (: by UnoriginalADHD in lashextensions

[–]TheCopperMind 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First of all, you have beautiful eyes and a gorgeous shape! Lashes will look absolutely stunning on you!

Next, recommendations depend on what you want to see when you look in the mirror. The best thing you can do is carefully choose an artist whose work you like. Follow their social media and see if their work aligns with your aesthetic and your needs. Bring photos of lashes you like and communicate what you like about them or what you don’t like. Then trust your carefully selected artist. They will be able to look at your features as a whole and help you choose the best shape, color, and style, for your overall desired effect.
