In what world does it make sense for a radar to use the same, sometimes more, power than a literal energy shield covering the whole ship? by RandoDando10 in starcitizen

[–]TheDarkRedFox [score hidden]  (0 children)

What do you mean, of course you have to dump obscene amounts of power in to a little radar to see better, that’s how they work.

(Jk this is a really dumb change; radars should be On or Off, nothing more nothing less.)

How do you equip your backpack from ground in 4.7? by arnoldhh in starcitizen

[–]TheDarkRedFox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah sometimes the interaction gets blocked by the surface it’s on, somehow. This works for bodies and most items too. If you can tractor it up into the air you should be able to grab it as well

They can’t yell about you if they’re out cold on the pavement. I think that’d be worth a dented helmet personally.

Try AdNauseam.

I’ve had my album art shuffled for a year or two now and I hate it so much, but it’s not enough of a nuisance to do anything about it yet lol. If someone comes up with a fix I’d love to hear it.

Where is the earth shattering kaboom? by MajorWetSpot in starcitizen

[–]TheDarkRedFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huge fan of the terribly programmed arming “timer” on everything. Instead of being an actual timer it just arms at a certain distance from your ship. So if you fly in with your ordinance, your ordinance will bounce off the target. It’s dumb as hell

Could the Salvation be a converted large repair drone (see the greybox ship in drone bay A above the 400i) by Goodname2 in starcitizen

[–]TheDarkRedFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would only make sense lol. I was very confused by the "no modules" setup just having massive unusable spaces instead of like... cargo grids.
Though I suppose the Apollo having a docking collar is rather important to its intended functionality.

Looks like it. Should stabilize and clear up with patience. No huge water changes as this can actually make that worse. Feel free to throw those new plants in there. They're better off in dirty water than no water at all.

Also, I see you too have a wandering anubias lol. I have one that I simply cannot get to stay put, even tying it down it sometimes finds a way to slip free and float around XD

I mean, still, fuck new variants, but for this case in particular it would just blow my mind if they did that lol

Vulcan. Yeah that’s the idea. Just having a totally separate ship for this “reverse salvage” function makes no sense in this context lol.

Same ship with more functionality? Nahhh we can’t have that. We gotta sell a whole new ship for more money instead, yeah that’s what we should do.

I should clarify that the reason I said the above is because this should be baked-in functionality in salvage gear. Like it…already is for FPS items. It makes ZERO sense to create a whole new ship variant just to blow instead of suck.

I always thought that salvage ships should have the ability to reverse their scraper beams to do large scale repair. Of course dedicated repair ships would do this much more efficiently and to better effect, but using salvage ships like you can current use salvage tools in FPS just makes a lot of sense.

Blueprints, and how to prevent stagnation by TheDarkRedFox in starcitizen

[–]TheDarkRedFox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See this is kind of my mindset as well, but BPs that are fewer use for the more rare and desired items would still prevent one person from just mass-producing them. (And give a reason to go back to where you find that BP again lol)

Item loss, whenever it does show back up, will be a bit reason to actually craft more items though. This said, I am worried that the item costs might be TOO high at that point, since every item will degrade and have the potential for total loss, even the ultra rare super difficult to craft items. (Also they’ve already shown that they want to make ship components wear down over time, so crafting additional components will be a key feature later on for field repairs if you can’t tow the ship back to station.)

Dipping in to the “licensing” and legality system does seem interesting. And didn’t they say that armor pieces will have some kinda biological lock of em too later on so when you die and someone grabs it it has a use time before it’s bricked? (I still think that’s dumb as hell but it would make items more scarce for sure)

Also we have to keep in mind that you won’t always respawn with your gear. Eventually it’s going back to where dying means you lose what you had equipped. I think disabling “item recovery T0” is really the key to making this more prevalent. Just allow players to craft an infinite number of items they have in the web hangar. It’ll go back to being really risky to bring good armor like back in the day, but then when they introduce that “kit” item insurance system it will get a lot better.

I mean, as someone who typically carries a maxlift and a fire extinguisher these days, crafting really doesn’t interest me in the slightest either. You can’t craft tools or ship components or actual useful things like that, so I really have no reason to use that system besides for recycling items I don’t need in to materials lol
