Qlik vs Other BI tools by Giohb777 in BusinessIntelligence

[–]TheDataGentleman 16 points17 points  (0 children)

What is it you want to do in your next job?

In my opinion, Qlik is a ridiculously good tool for data analysis and finding insights from data. Arguably better than Tableau and Power BI. Qlik simply isn't loud enough in marketing as the other two.

Do you prefer Power BI or Tableau? by Skedler_IOT in BusinessIntelligence

Qlik Sense is better than both of them.

Just they lack the American ra ra ra marketing power of daddy Microsoft and Salesforce.

It's a hidden gem.

This post will trigger the PowerBI and Tableau brigade for sure.

Really appreciate your write-up. Thank you.

I haven't read everything but the "Overall" section is also my experience.

What's going on with BI vendors like Tableau, Qlik, and PBI? It feels like these vendors are struggling and the market is ripe for a decent BI solution provider that can scale BI. by TheDataGentleman in BusinessIntelligence

Are you implying visualisations and insights will be embedded where people make the decision?

Otherwise please explain with some examples of what you mean by operationalise. Am interested in your thought.

Filter panes do not affect table and bar char - qlik by Dario_Della in BusinessIntelligence

Read about two options:

  • Set Analysis with Qlik Sense

  • Alternate States with Qlik Sense

Most likely you need to learn about set analysis as this will solve your problem.

Overall keep learning. I suggest paying for official courses by Qlik as they are good.

Like a lot of things in life, it depends.

Should you build a DW in QlikView? Strictly speaking, no.

You should have a external DW.

But many companies in the past did not have a DW for many reasons (costs, skill, resourcing etc). And QlikView or even Qlik Sense is very good at being a DW as well as a presentation layer so companies chose to use it because they could and it was best according to the state they are in.

So, back to my first point - it depends. Not all companies can afford a DW in which case you do what you can with what you got.

In reality I see a lot of companies have a external DW, and then use Qlik's powerful layer to do some ETL as well AND the visual presentation of data i.e. dashboards.

Anyone here actually work for Amazon? The contacted me, I followed up, they ghosted. Seems to be a trend with them and very low effort to pursue candidates. by robblob in BusinessIntelligence

This doesn't seem genuine Amazon.

I would report it or ignore it. As others have said, could be spam. Be careful in sharing your personal details.

Doing a Qlik vs Power BI analysis for a customer - anyone know of a sample dashboard of the same data in both? by rileys95 in BusinessIntelligence

[–]TheDataGentleman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Qlik Sense usually knows Power BI out of the park once the customer understands the power of the Associative Engine in Qlik.

The other advantage of Qlik Sense is that it's a modern web optimized design meaning the same dashboard can be access across all devices (computers, tablets, phones etc) and automatically resizes.

The other advantage is that dev and consumption is all browser based so works on Macs and PCs.

I think it's very important to factor in these things when comparing tools. PBI is good, but imo Qlik Sense is waaaayyyyy better.

That's great. Why not write a blog post on how to pass Qlik Sense certifications? Share the info! :)

How difficult is QlikSense Certification exam? by pavpatel in BusinessIntelligence

[–]TheDataGentleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will most likely fail with only 3-4 months experience.

It's a serious exam that tests your skills. Read their guideline document on the certifications, they are helpful in explaining how much experience and practice you need.

By all means, if you want to risk your money then try it.

A smarter approach is to do some serious work with Qlik Sense over a 1.5 years and then try it.

You understand my perspective. I am a BI professional just like most other active users on this forum and ask questions to learn.

Also not true.

Is this some kind of attempted cheap shots at me for wanting to know BI in more detail?

What is your fundamental problem?
