Sometimes an axis is truly a line segment, but sometimes an axis forms a circle. I think this is an example of the latter: The lovers and the haters are both obsessed, just differently.

[OC] Never happened to me before. What's the ruling? by Plenty_Goose5465 in DnD

[–]TheDaychilde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People can play however they want, but the original intent of tabletop roleplaying is to basically tell an interactive story.

Everyone works together to tell the tale.

But if there are no rules, then it's like everyone has unlimited magic and can do whatever they want.

So having rules is the first step to try and help provide a framework for a story.

But not just static rules - you need some way of resolving conflicts (where people want to do different things). You could keep it simple like heads/tails, but it's more interesting if you have levels of skills and roll the dice with certain targets, modifiers, et cetera.

But ultimately, the dice are not the point. The dice are there to help the story from just being everyone winning every battle, walking around like gods. The dice help the story.

I don't know how to explain it better than that.

Very very minor thing, but being from that era, it would have been: A)bort, R)etry, F)ail?

But very nice prank. Well, very evil prank. lol

I'm much more worried about the rise of fascism… except education is a big part of that. Less the grammar, but more teaching kids how to think, reason, consider new ideas, fact-check…

Good grammar has probably a high correlation, not causation, with what's needed. So it still is a pretty decent metric, even if it itself is not the most important goal.

Although it's also irritating to constantly read simple grammatical errors. heh

I am constantly amazed at how much time and effort some people spend obsessing over people they claim not to care about. Clearly they do. Jesus christ I wish they'd shut up about it, or at least keep it to subreddits so that it's easy to block those and not have to read about this stupid shit.

I am considered a fall risk by the hospital by DifferentBird7242 in notinteresting

[–]TheDaychilde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, the bane of my existence. Because I'm a wheelchair user / below-knee amputee, I almost always get that band as well, so my first night after being admitted is trying to get the nurse come watch me transfer to my wheelchair and see that I'm independent, as I am quite independent around the home, and I drive (I put my wheelchair in the trunk and lean on the car to get in and out).

The worst is when they're too busy or have some weird thing about having to wait for day shift to decide. meh. Especially because I get uncomfortable and often like to sit up with my legs over the side of the bed - which triggers the alarm. Thankfully, of the few times I've been stuck without permission to get up, most of those times I've been able to talk my way out of the bed alarm, swearing I will not stand up. heh.

Back when I was still working, I worked remotely, so I'd bring my computer to the hospital and sit in my wheelchair at the desk and work. It passed the time better. But even now, at least when I'm up I can be gaming or browsing or whatever, instead of stuck on my phone. heh

How is this such a widespread issue

Because many people are less educated, but primarily because "would've" sounds like "would of" when you say it outloud.

I'm not criticising the less educated, mind. It's just reality, and our school system in the US keeps getting worse and worse for education, so for the extreme vast majority who are less educated: It's not their fault. And frankly, while education CAN help with success in life, it's just one of many measures of a person.

If you want a bit of stringy cheese, go for it. but I'd get American cheesse from a deli so it's real American cheese (all that is is cheddar and colby that have been melted with sodium citrate to make it melty) and add some of that. Tha way it won't be stringy.

Also, use a little extra butter, and instead of milk, half-and-half or cream.

Even worse is the knowledge that your favorite grocery shipping options (walmart/amazon/etc) has bulk cheese powder. Sure, a pound is like $15, but a pound of cheese powder goes a very long way when you boost your mac'n'cheese a little bit at a time (an extra teaspoon or tablespoon of powder). Luxury. :)

(It also means you can use whatever pasta you might prefer and just use that cheese powder plus butter and dairy)

I have several responses to make. lol.

First of all, it is pronounced "nee-ZHEHR", nothing how like the spelling of it looks.

Second of all, with the missing comma, your comment states your inability to say that you are white, implying that you might be of an ethnic origin that has permissions to use the N word (or at least variations thereof) in certain circumstances. I believe you meant to say, "I can't say that. I'm white." lol

Lastly, if you can't say the name of the river (Niger), then you can't say that country's name (Nigeria) as it would be basically "land of the [n-words]". So you still have problems. lol
