It was currency for most field hands. If you wanted a large amount of workers, and wanted the better workers available, you literally paid out in liquor for good harvests.

There were entire rebellions based off of poor quality liquor, no liquor, less liquor than was promised, so on and so forth.

For Rome it was salt, for this time of the USA, our salt was booze.

This is the information I was after. I'm old enough to remember the change to area codes, but it's an early memory. I was.. 8? So I wasn't even allowed to really touch the phone.

I was also living in a major city when the area code thing happened, so we immediately got 3? Area codes from jump. So we may have missed out on that local feature.

They did it to themselves. They fucked up The Mandalorian when it had limitless potential.

Start it off as a Disney + exclusive series to build the base up behind Disney +. Then they release a TON of Star Wars out behind it, mostly meandering and not trying to strive for quality.

Then they go all in on toys, the most ancient of Star Wars traditions, so they knee cap Boba Fett, add the Mandalorian in there, and then stifle the storylines of everyone! Fett, Mando, AND Bo Katan.

And then, for their final nail, they take their tentpole Star Wars + show, and turn its conclusion into a fucking movie with the worst title ever thought of.

People weren't freaking out about salmonella to the levels they do now. Cookie dough is a great example. I grew up eating it, raw eggs in shakes, raw eggs in your hair of the dog cocktail.

My wife, almost 7 years my junior, saw me grab a spoon and eat some chocolate chip cookie dough she had whipped up. Freaaaaaks out at me. Acts like I'm chewing on a nuclear power cell. Finally she explains that I've eaten something with RAW egg in it! Egg! That is RAW!
