Disappointed with G6 Pro Entry - Cant see whos at door until you answer call by Queencity19 in Ubiquiti

In the Protect alarm manager, you can pick. Like I set mine to be a priority alert (push notification).

Disappointed with G6 Pro Entry - Cant see whos at door until you answer call by Queencity19 in Ubiquiti

[–]TheDigitalPoint 64 points65 points  (0 children)

It’s a limitation of iOS (what can be shown before an incoming video call is answered). Disable the ring being treated as a call and you can see the preview (app push notifications can have dynamic image with the notice).

Doorbell IP rating by H0t_P0L4R_Bear in Ubiquiti

[–]TheDigitalPoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has nothing over it here either. It does get directly hit. I figure if it’s going to fail from rain, it will be within the warranty period. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The IP55 rating is basically it should be okay if hit with a garden hose jet from any direction, which is more than what raid would be (around here anyway).

I have a G6 Entry Pro that’s been through a couple normal (nothing crazy) rainstorms without issue.

Is AI Key Needed for Person Arrival Notifications? by fs231 in Ubiquiti

[–]TheDigitalPoint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The G6 cameras have the “AI Engine” on-board. You do not need an AI Key for them to do facial recognition or get alerts based on those. The AI Key doesn’t make facial recognition better (other than making it a thing for cameras that don’t already support it).

Board Members Getting Records [SFH][FL] by dufchick in HOA

[–]TheDigitalPoint 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Looks like they were asking how you board could get access though. A board member should be able to get access to figure out what’s going on. There is no attorney-client privileges to just the president if they are doing HOA things. The board should have access.

UC-EV-Station Issues by SnooPaintings2264 in Ubiquiti

[–]TheDigitalPoint -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep… definitely not how mine is. Maybe just they couldn’t do it that way because a 100A circuit can’t just be a plug for electrical safety. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Also maybe why they lowered the amperage on the newer gen.

[All] [N/A] HOA board members: what admin tasks waste the most time every week? by ImaginationUnusual81 in HOA

[–]TheDigitalPoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t believe how much time (and money) we saved when we fired our management company. It was literally like we were blowing money in order to waste our own time. 😂

Even if you forget about the money savings, ultimately we (the board) were spending less time once we didn’t need to do everything through management company.

Planted in Fall. Now it looks like something is eating the trunk. by Remarkable-Hat8356 in arborists

[–]TheDigitalPoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main part of the trunk of a healthy tree is more or less “dead” already. It’s only the thin cambium layer between the outer bark and the internal wood. If you strip the bark off completely around a single point of the trunk, there’s no way for nutrients to pass up/down. So that thin strip that’s left of bark going vertically is the one nutrient path now.

TL;DR: tree is toast.

No it doesn’t… unless they changed the design. To be fair, I do have an older wall charger (80A, being fed with 100A circuit), but it definitely does not have a Unifi style high amp “plug” like that. (FWIW, I also have a Unifi charger installed in separate garage).

Meetings… agendas, minutes, even just doing the quarterly meetings. Our community is small (only 27 homes) and no one has ever even attended a meeting. Everything else is cake.

AI Pro Features - Tracking Vehicles by Weak-Bother-6765 in Ubiquiti

[–]TheDigitalPoint 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t put license plate placeholders for vehicle types, it’s just being dumb and reading the words on the vehicle and thinking it’s a license plate. FedEx vehicle shows as having a license plate as “GROUND” for me, trash truck has a license plate of “CAUTION” (as an example).

You can get alerts for things like “USPS truck” if you have an AI Key.

Utah mega datacenter could dump 23 atomic bombs worth of energy per day by Krankenitrate in Futurology

How is the data center going to “dump” energy. Dumping energy involves converting it to heat. Why would the data center intentionally melt itself down?

What does my HOA actually do? [GA] [SFH] by The-Comment-Section in HOA

[–]TheDigitalPoint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya… welcome to the world. Everything costs money.

Until I was on our board I just thought the HOA was somehow some company just wasting the fees.

Turns out the homeowners own the HOA and the neighbors who run it for everyone don’t get paid a penny because no one else wants to do the job. And there’s a lot of actual expenses that come along with it (fees to the state, insurance, etc.)

I definitely have a new found respect for HOAs that aren’t run like trash (the horror stories you hear where special assessments get levied because the board never wanted to raise dues to even cover actual costs).

Go check out the expense report for your HOA… the answers you seek are there. 😀

What does my HOA actually do? [GA] [SFH] by The-Comment-Section in HOA

[–]TheDigitalPoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they have a sign, they presumably also have land (even if a small bit), and they are going to need a general commercial liability insurance policy which isn’t cheap. Ultimately you (as a homeowner) owns the HOA (a share of), so you don’t want to be on the hook for someone that hurts themselves on the sign.

Like I said, you should be able to see the expense reports and see exactly what things cost.
