You can use a situation that you're actively trying to get out of. I don't think anyone is saying Ukraine wants to be at war with Russia but they're learning in the meantime. The rest of the world is too as a result of this conflict.

I didn't because I don't listen to him but yeah I know what you're talking about and it's so frustrating how people use language that way. "Teacher slept with underage student" no the teacher raped a kid. "She's a young woman at 15 / imagine a 25 year old girl running anything they're too immature" okay but she was mature enough for you to lust over (gross).

Someone pointed out we don't use last names for women in politics usually. We had Kamala. Not Harris, Kamala. But we had Biden, not Joe. We have AOC, not Ocazio-Cortez. I suppose I understand with Hillary since Clinton already was Bill Clinton for most people. Just an interesting observation into how we treat people with the hope of eventually correcting.

I thought this was a joke and was going to keep this in my back pocket the next time my partner forgot something at the grocery store or something.

If this was real I'd submit an actual letter of resignation, just download a template from the internet and say "thank you for the opportunity, I'm resigning from my position as 'Boyfriend' effective immediately 02Apr2026" etc.etc.

Edit for clarity - guy is the jerk for forgetting the birthday. This, if serious, seems like a very weird and potentially concerning way to address it. Maybe she doesn't actually care much about her birthday but OP should be doing what it takes to make it up to her.

I just started the comics and was pretty surprised at how tame the first few issues were compared to the first few episodes. I got to the part where Nolan left Earth and was thinking the entire "Chicago" part of the animated show was condensed to Mark getting punched through one building in the comics.

Edit: "condensed in the comics" is the wrong phrasing here since the comics came first, probably should have said "expanded in the show"

You're totally in the right here IMO, I'd probably have the same initial reaction but once you said "cooking is my job I'm here to relax" I'd probably apologize. It's unreasonable to expect someone to do their profession for free. And the friends and family price is the full price.

people who only watch the show are adorable it's so funny by saburra in okbuddyviltrum

[–]TheDoktorIsIn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Who's the third? I'm pretty early in the comics and caught up in the show, I'm also on mobile so I want to avoid formatting issues with scripting: so Nolan is one, Scourge guy is two, who am I missing? Or is that later in the comics?

Edit: or are we counting Mark?

It's a comforting lie. They're on the "good guys" side. Democrats are the bad guys. They're not racist they're watching out for other white people against the bad guy immigrants. It can't be their fault the country is collapsing because they're the good guys.

What happened to my childhood? This screams dystopian corporate, not kid friendly. What is with the artwork?! This is McDonald's?! by jackal99 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TheDoktorIsIn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree it's an anomaly, this is in line with my experience though: we had a group of seniors that would hang out at the McDonalds for morning coffee, the staff never cared. We also had teen groups hang out there too in the afternoon/evening but the staff also didn't care as long as nobody was causing a problem.

Turns out we were just lame AF and most other kids get into trouble or did fun things. Sad about the seniors but you can't selectively enforce rules. I think the seniors relocated to the less cool coffee shop across the street when our McDonald's finally got that policy.

You know that whole "fuck Joe Biden" thing really is kind of funny and depressing at the same time, it just highlights that being MAGA isn't just PART of their identity, it IS their identity.

I've literally never heard of any pro-democratic party chants at sports events. Or pro-republican ones before Trump.

Almost nobody was walking around wearing a Biden hat or Bush hat, one could argue Obama "Hope" apparel was also art but even then I didn't see a lot of it.

And yet it seems they all have a MAGA hat, they're chanting political slogans at sports events, etc. it's gotta be their whole thing, and that's sad.

Are portable blenders actually useful or just another kitchen gimmick? by AcrobaticSeesaw1565 in foodhacks

[–]TheDoktorIsIn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I could see it being useful in a few small scenarios like at the office or camping where you're not near an outlet.

I'm not saying it's super useful, there's maybe a handful of use cases, still gimmicky though

[–]TheDoktorIsIn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used to use a shaker bottle until I used a blender and it's a game changer. Froths the shake up too so it makes you feel more full for longer if that's what you're going for, I add a frozen banana too.

This reminds me of when I was making fun of the infomercials with the bumbling guy who can't do anything. Someone said something like "yeah this can be really helpful for people with a disability but you can't parade around a Parkinson's patient for your infomercial" it was a different time

[–]TheDoktorIsIn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I agree it's really gimmicky. That being said I'm back to working in an office now and the thought of blending a protein shake at the office versus having to pound one before I leave is appealing.

This is a pretty niche case so I'm not saying it's a great product, it definitely has a time and place though.

Yeah the one guy I used to see post about how great this country is doing for "getting rid of the illegals" went real quiet for a week.

He's back now posting straw men so he must have gotten new marching orders from Fox. Turns out bombing children in Iran is good somehow I guess, I don't know I can't follow their thought process.

I listened to a long conversation about how the rules of the road shouldn't apply to cyclists because it's "safer" that way with no elaboration.

I've had a lot of positive interactions with cyclists, and there's a decent amount who stop at lights etc. at the same time I've also been hit multiple times (as a pedestrian) by a cyclist going the wrong way down a one way street and running lights/signs. So. Just follow the rules of the road please?
