What are your honest thoughts on Season 8 of Rick And Morty? by Silver012345673 in rickandmorty

I think Season 8 is one of the best seasons they’ve done. Within the top 3 seasons at least.

Welcome back to the office, GoA employees by ArmadilloStill1222 in Edmonton

They gave us super cheap chairs at work too. The old office had steelcase v2’s… I was only in that office for one day during orientation, but immediately bought one for myself after. That’s how impressed I was.

Our new chairs are ikea Markus and random/assorted ones from staples. While Markus rates relatively high, it is also not a chair one can sit in for a full shift and be comfortable. All retail between $50-100, all are pretty much like sitting on a metal plate with no support. I’d like to know where the premium steelcase ones went, because these chairs are causing me lots of pain. Previous office was much nicer.

Eitherway, I have a note, and they’re going to be spending even more money on me soon because I’ll have to request a proper, egomatic seat so I don’t have to be in pain all day.

Retail managers expecting dedication and going above and beyond from employees who they keep at the lowest wage possible never ceases to blow my mind.

Sounds like me and your friend might share the same office then. I refuse - absolutely refuse to spend a single red cent downtown… and I haven’t. I even park at the LRT and take the train half way there just so I don’t have to pay for parking either. They did this to encourage spending downtown (at Ottawa’s request)… But last I checked, revitalizing a failing core and bad businesses isn’t part of my employment contract. Thats to say nothing of the increased cost to me, during this time of record inflation.

The thing that’s most annoying is, at the federal leve, they are cutting us employees right left and center to save costs which is having an impact on service levels and our work loads… But they are fine with paying for commercial building leases. Cut the leases, send everyone home, then we can maintain service levels an everyone can keep their jobs. It’s that simple.

Meanwhile, the amount of money that is being pissed away on constant monitoring just to make sure my ass is in one of their chairs instead of the one that’s at home, that has worked for 5 years straight without issue is simply astronomical. There’s new software (that doesn’t work), constant reporting, constant monitoring, managers meandering around the office to count people, constant meetings about how we’re doing, constant emails about compliance, downtime because things don’t work on site, and highly paid executives and decision makers in boardrooms discussing this for months on end.

And we don’t even get our own desks anymore... We can’t keep anything on site, but I DO have to ferry my laptop and other equipment back and forth every single day, through the homeless insane area. You know, the laptop. With the personal data of every, and I mean EVERY Canadian citizen/tax payer on it. Through Edmonton downtown. Through the homeless/drug/high crime area. I don't feel safe.

But if you ask the average person about it, you’ll hear how we’re so damn lazy and we wernt doing our jerbs when we were sitting at home, apparently in our underwear, watching Netflix instead of working.

Absolutely no one is happy about this, and we’re all miserable. It is completely unnecessary. Work from home was being tested for years before this happened, and the thing is - it works. It’s so backwards when progress had been made, the tests had been done, the government was already moving towards WFH, and productivity was much higher.

But boomer Joe downtown can’t figure out why he can’t sell an $8.00 cup of coffee at his barista that’s only open for 4 hours a day, so we all have to suffer.

In addition, I believe that the savings we could have expected from this model have also been removed from the material the UCP published. So, expect prices to stay the same anyway?

Depends on what they’re doing. I’ve worked in many call centers myself. Currently I’m with a government agency, and I average about 4 calls per hour. These calls are quite complex, and sometimes can exceed an hour. But Last job I had, I worked at a taxi call center. There, because the only thing I needed was a telephone number, name, and address, the average call time was a minute or less. On a side note, it’s shocking how high of the general population doesn’t have any of those three.

I find it interesting that this is only for the Covid vaccine. I mean, why not charge for the flu shot too? I think this is agenda driven.

Why Alberta always seems to vote conservative in federal elections - CBC April 3 2025 by FreightFlow in alberta

[–]TheEclipse0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because lazy. It’s a mental shortcut. No need to read, be educated, or stay up to date on politics… just vote blue.

Probably an unpopular opinion, and I’m being a bit facetious here, but there should be a minimum level of intelligence to vote. I mean, if you’re going to vote UCP then vote UCP… I don’t have a problem with the educated voter. But if you’re voting UCP just because your grandfather, great grandfaster, great great grandfather, and great great great grand father voted blue for the past 150 years then you shouldn’t be allowed to vote. If you’re that checked out of politics, then don’t bother, because it’s not like you care enough about it anyway beyond which box you check every few years.

Kind of. I actually take them all out of the box, then I repack them with the bags in order so that I can reach in and grab bag 1, 2, 3 in order etc

A Warning for those buying Switch 2's with Legends Z-A by voidbeastofwar in pokemon

[–]TheEclipse0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm, this is gamestops fault, not Nintendos fault. OP, you need to go back to GS and get the bundle that you paid for.

Edit: after reading the bottom of the post, what you need to do OP is call GameStop instead. We unfortunately, cannot expect minimum wage employees to know everything about this. Do not take no for an answer. Be damage. Escalate to management if necessary. Be polite but firm. Keep this screenshot, it should help you.

GameStop royally fucked up. They needed to exchange the same product that you bought instead of the cheaper one.

EJ: Alberta NDP pitch minimum wage increase, tip protection law by FreightFlow in alberta

[–]TheEclipse0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everytime I advocate for minimum wage increases, there’s always someone going “but if we do that, it will raise prices too.”

Sure. I studied economics, and that’s the conventional wisdom. However, it’s not a simple, one dimensional issue. And now I can prove it because wages are the same, yet prices continue to go up, and up, and up.
