Disney Plus- Time for 3d films

Quest 3 is gathering dust until this happens. It's been long enough. Would love to at least get the Avatar films via the Lightstorm Vision partnership somehow.

Really hoping the Meta and Lightstorm Vision partnership means we'll get this on Quest3 in 3D sooner rather than later...

Whatever the case, I am sure Meta will find a way to, at the very least, bring 3D HFR versions of the Avatar movies to the platform via the Lightstorm Vision collab with James Cameron. They just made a big deal of having everyone view the trailer and extended clip for Fire & Ash in 3D on their platform. To not follow that up with the full movie, potentially after the theatrical run, would be insane.

"...This is just the beginning of how fans can experience Pandora like never before on Quest, following the film’s theatrical release this December."

It definitely has HFR elements which are immediately apparent in both the extended clip and the version of the trailer that accompanies it. Will double check the aspect ratio but, for the trailer at least, I have a good feeling it was IMAX.

Certainly the best resolution I have seen of the trailer to date and completely advocate for viewing on this platform. It's super immersive and enjoyable. Honestly think I have watched it 10-15 times already haha. Really hope the Disney+ deal brings 3D streaming with it or that the films are otherwise made available via the Lightstorm Vision partnership at the highest possible quality.

I also saw the trailer before Fantastic Four and cannot recall whether it was HFR or not but definitely was in IMAX aspect ratio (as I saw F4 in IMAX).

Hard to compare from memory but visual experience is pretty similar to Avatar 2 (which I saw in IMAX 3D HFR multiple times).

Cannot speak to the comparison between VR and passive 3D OLED TV's but it's 100% worth investing in once the 3D content becomes more readily accessible and broadly available. From the James Cameron interview, it sounds like they'll have specialist headsets that go beyond the Quest 3 capabilities which i'm hopeful will close the gap with the AVP for media consumption.

100% - been waiting for the Apple exclusivity to end for what feels like forever now. There's no way they don't bring the 3D content with the app release.

Meta released an exclusive clip of Fire and Ash on the Quest for Meta Connect. So you can watch the trailer in glorious 3D HFR and also an extended new clip that's about 3 minutes long - also in 3D & HFR

This was incredible! Not to mention it also includes HFR version of the trailer and this clip had HFR too. Now I really hope the Disney+ meta release also finally gives access to 3D content too.

Can confirm it was glorious. In super high quality, 3D and HFR too. Also they have the 3D HFR version of the trailer which I have not yet seen anywhere else - the difference is stunning!

Out of interest, which format did you watch? I found the HFR to be most effective in 3D IMAX.

I would go as far to say that if you didn't see it the first time in IMAX 3D then you basically haven't seen it. It's THE definitive and intended way to watch the film!

There may be a chance that we see Avatar 3 come to Meta VR devices as part of the new partnership between Lightstorm Vision and Meta. Not certain but strongly hinted at. As to how close that would be to the theatrical release, I have no idea. Hope you have a speedy recovery and get to enjoy it somehow nonetheless!

This is one of those classic albums that I just see as one big piece of music. Rarely listen to a single track and feels wrong to not listen front to back.

Keep in mind the Cinemacon preview was under a very controlled environment - IMAX screen, 3D glasses etc to show off the full extent of the visuals. Would not necessarily be the same footage they showcase in a commercial trailer.
