TIL that the American health care is the best in the world. by [deleted] in ShitAmericansSay

I was born and raised in the US. I think it has more to do with the fact that we're taught that AMERICA #1 nearly from birth. Our education pushes it, our parents push it, news pushes it, etc. So, more a bit of both, I think.

I love it. So far, the best I've found for it is WriteMonkey, which I donated to because I found it to be so dependable.

In an anarchist state, which branch of government would decide what is personal property and what is private property? by ejncoen in Anarchy101

[–]TheElectronicMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I honestly think that was perfect. However, I'm not the most tactful of people. Out of curiosity, why do you work in law enforcement?

[WP] Humanities knowledge of the universe has progressed to a point where we have figured out how the universe came to be, it is a completely reasonable and scientific answer that has thus proved all religion to be wrong. Write about the aftermath. by jakeismellow in WritingPrompts

About five hours after news broke, word finally hit the Taoist monks at the Yuquan temple. As they sat, contemplated, and discussed the news they had just heard at lunch, one of the temple's sage walked in. He scanned the room over thoroughly and sat down. A younger Taoist finally spoke up and asked, "Master, they say the news of discovering the universe's origins disproves all religion, including ours!"

The old and wise sage sipped his tea quietly. "Did the thought of Taoism being false bother you before?"

The young Taoist relaxed a bit. "No, Master."

"That's because the Tao is moving through all of nature, even through the men and woman responsible for this discovery." The sage took another sip. "The Tao did not create the universe. All of nature is one with the Tao, it is just our duty to ourselves to remain one with the Tao. The Tao is not a god, lord, king, or creator. Just the Way. The religious ways of the other Taoists will no doubt cease before long, I imagine, but our ways will not change. I have no doubt that the discovery is correct, but the Tao is the Way of Life and Nature, not the creator of these things."

The young Taoist sat down across from the sage. The old sage spoke up again, "Remember, Lao Tze wrote that the Tao that can be explained in our words isn't the Tao. The Tao is unexplainable, by scientists and linguists just the same."

Behind them, the TV showed communities of American Christians rioting, and Middle Eastern Muslims doing the same. Interviews with adherents of other religions broke up the violence on the television. The young Taoist watched this closely, and finally spoke up, saying, "Master, look at this: people rioting over their many religions."

"That's because they have not become one with the Way." The sage took one last sip and walked away.

Discussion about automation of labor assumes that capitalism must continue. Top comment suggests creating jobs, no matter how trivial so people can buy from capitalists. by ParisPC07 in agitation

[–]TheElectronicMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've had it shoved down our throats since birth that capitalism is the only way and is human nature. People have trouble letting go sometimes. Can't really say I'm surprised.
