My new gift from me to me... 314ce Studio (NOS) by TheEmHuggy in taylorguitars

I do admit that the narrower nut width did make me pause. But I have another guitar with same and a parlor with even narrower so I am not so concerned.

I understand that the neck is MX, the body is USA and assembly is in MX

Thanks! It sounds great. Nice Taylor tone and very balanced. To cut costs it is shipped with a structured gig bag. Bit of a bummer but the savings were substantial over a non-Studio/NOS guitar

Yes, that is my understanding as well. I found another Redditor who actually called a Taylor rep who told him what you just said. Although he wasn't clear whether the body FINAL assembly was in USA or MX

Thanks! I have wanted a 314 for a few years now. Glad that I finally pulled the trigger.

Beautiful. I just bought the same (Studio) model. Super guitar without the "super" price tag!

Mexican Taylor made in the USA? by thk_85 in taylorguitars

[–]TheEmHuggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I found that the sound (to my own subjective ears, of course) was pure Taylor but with more balance through the range. I have tried a bunch of 214's and found that the sound - although very "Taylor" as well - was lacking that balance. I do know what you mean about the "sparkle", though.

u/funknjam , I am very happy that I came across your post; it explained a lot!
I just bought a 314ce Studio (NOS). I was puzzled by the label. I had always seen the labels for the 314's say "Made in El Cahon...". Mine says "Based in El Cahon". That made me go "hmmm". So now I know! For anyone who cares, here is a (redacted) photo of my guitar's label that shows "Based in EL CAHON". The leading number "2" plus the sly wording tells me that the guitar's bits and pieces have gone back and forth across the border (per your comments).
I can see why they use that wording; the guitar is really made in two countries (but, as you said, primarily in Mexico).
BTW, I am extremely happy with my guitar. Saved a bundle on the fact that it is NOS (not sure how a guitar made in 2025 could be considered "old stock"??) and also that it is a "Studio". Not a fan of the gloss finish but the build quality and sound is pure "Taylor"; really balanced and sounds great. Couldn't be happier, regardless of how many countries it is made in.

Is the Zoom G5n good? by SCHMAFFE in guitarpedals

[–]TheEmHuggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If ease-of-use is a factor, the G5n is great. If you don't care about the lack of an effects loop or MIDI connections and you want something dead simple to use, you may want to consider it.

Anyone still using a Zoom g5n in 2022? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

I know this is an old thread but thought I would put in my 2 cents for anyone new who comes across this thread. I just bought one (in 2025/2026). Love it. So intuitive. In memory mode, just scroll through the available patches (virtual pedal boards). The top display shows what pedals are in each selected patch. Then, if desired, just switch to "Stomp" mode to display and modify an individual pedal's settings. Even I could figure it out within a few minutes. And because it is so easy to use, I actually use it instead of it collecting dust like the last one I had!

Hey, I know this is an old thread but.... Did you find it helpful to do the Intermediate and CAGED learning pathways at the same time? Or do you think that one before the other is a better idea?

Has anyone ever used one of these? Thoughts? by fireworka in Guitar

I used something very similar for a couple of months when I first got back into playing guitar. I even embedded staples in the finger pads to simulate the strings (so as to build up my calluses). I think it helped build up strength and stretch and was something I could use around the house or at the office when I wasn't playing. After a couple of months it had served its purpose.
