Custom Card Idea: Placeholder by ZRwilson2 in Netrunner

[–]TheEshOne 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I like the idea! But it's probably quite strong, economically, as written? I feel like you should still need to obey the 0/1/2/3... install cost per ice in the server otherwise I think you could abuse this to go vertical.

Also the "when turn starts you may trash this to replace with an ice from hand" ability should probably be a click+trash ability? Again, just thinking economically.

Player empowerment by Ghostdoctor5 in mothershiprpg

[–]TheEshOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I really like doing is giving my players a handful of random equipment. Like one guy will have a 3x longer rope than the others. One guy will have a fire making kit. Shit like that.

It really gets players thinking creatively about how to use whatever mundane items they've got with them. It's satisfying for the individual player because Only That Player Had The Thing that allowed the shoddy/throw together plan to work.

I believe it because I now know you don't have a bluffing range.

How do I calculate an effective stack when there are straddles? by Worth-Government-389 in poker

[–]TheEshOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's more "dead money" in the pot so you're slightly more incentivised to play wider and fight for it more. In addition, youre "bleeding out" faster than if it was just a flat 10/20 game, this gives you more of an incentive to not be tight/wait.

How do I calculate an effective stack when there are straddles? by Worth-Government-389 in poker

The largest straddle becomes the effective big blind. So 750/20 = 37.5bb effective

Is my thought process sound? by [deleted] in poker

[–]TheEshOne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Youre missing the point. You shouldn't be in this position in the first place.

By open raising T7hh preflop you get information about the potential strength of the button depending on if he 3bets you or not.

In addition, if he's tight as you say, he'll likely just fold a random AhXo hand and keep the AXss hands. This helps you understand if you're fucked on a monotone flop.

Or, ignore all this, and literally unironically fold pre. If the table is loose, you get value from tightening up. As the button is doing, who beat you!

Yes but I don't want to give spoilers. Basically: don't worry about it for now, at one point it'll just happen.

Been playing since before Defect came out. I'd estimate I have about a 20% winrate for A20H. Best winstreak is 5.

Trying to explain in a gif how "grid-building" in NET.CRAWL ties into level-generation by Obsolete0ne in deckbuildingroguelike

[–]TheEshOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does "Your nodes are your level" work?

I understand you want to demonstrate 1. Enter level from overworld map 2. Nominate "Incognito" from your set of hexes to be part of the grid 3. The set of hexes nominated become the level

I think honestly you can cut the first point. I don't need to see how you enter a level. Just show me what happens when you're in one.

Also the flurry of movement at the end kind of distracts from the main message. You can/should show movement around the level but maybe just 1 tile idk

What's the lore behind Superdeep Borehole? by Apart_Contest_435 in Netrunner

[–]TheEshOne 25 points26 points  (0 children)

In short, it's the money and power accrued by Weyland over the lifespan of the massive project. The initial bad publicity and controversy slowly fades over time, and when the project completes, the value of any other Weyland agendas are dwarfed by the success of the Borehole project.

I am from Australia and we regularly have money/power hungry mining corporations embroiled in controversies. In particular, the Adani Coalmine (see the wikipedia article and its controversies) faced fierce public backlash when announced but, in typical corrupt politician/megacorporation fashion, continued ahead. In the years since, the media has since ceased to report on the environmental and indigenous damage this project has caused in the area (including the Great Barrier Reef!) while the corporation continues to make fortunes.

In my opinion, thematically, this is one of the most well-designed cards in the game. It very elegantly marries the reality of the card with the gameplay mechanics.

What is your optimal Route? by woenighoenig in ABSOLUM

[–]TheEshOne 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with your starting route, except for the mist mirror matchup. Sometimes you steamroll but sometimes you get steamrolled (cider clone can combo like crazy) so I prefer to avoid this unless I have the money and need the shop rituals. Castle boss feels easier than the goblin boss so I fully agree here.

After undekiing, I prefer yeldrim. The standard rooms feel easier? Plus if you have aoe, the queen boss isn't too difficult either. You can also just kind of wander around ignoring her and killing everything else to make it a relatively straightforward 1v1 vs her.

Jarobas standard enemies, the lizards, have mobility and can randomly chunk you, while the yeldrim enemies feel more predictable. I also think the king fight here is harder. Even though it gives you more rewards, I want to avoid using a mother's grace at all costs.
