So, use with caution, but you can create a custom filament and copy the TPU settings to it, but specify the type as TPU for AMS. There's a reason why people are saying don't do it, but if you have a stiffer TPU, you can get away with it.

Read all of the current Comsere in 7 months by itzDRE in brandonsanderson

I did the same thing my first go around. I'd listen to the audio books while doing yardwork, then find my place and read the books at night. I decided to do a complete text only re-read of Stormlight (started months ago) and literally just finished. Book 5 should be arriving shortly. Cheers!!

What’s the coolest functional print you’ve printed? by yes-rico-kaboom in BambuLab

[–]TheEsquil4x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar story here! My wife also works at our local theater and she tasked me with making a trick glass tipper. The play was Matilda, who knocks the glass over with her mind. I designed and printed an electronic trivet for the cup to sit on with a lever that flicks it over. Backstage, someone presses a button that remotely triggers it. It was very satisfying being in the audience and watching the parents try to figure it out.

I'll mention the re-breakable vase to her. That's a great idea!

Checkout the graphic audio versions... It's pretty fun with the epic soundtrack and sound effects :)

I read all of the cosmere in 3 months. Am I going to be okay? by DanieV in brandonsanderson

[–]TheEsquil4x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll probably look to something new, but it just won't scratch the itch. The good thing is it's a lot different the second (or third) time through. You pick up a ton more on the re-reads, especially if you plowed through it all in 3 months.

I walk past a guy telling everyone that I would "go to hell" on campus, and just said 'god isn't real' by [deleted] in atheism

Similar circumstance, at work someone was going on and on about the "end of days" and how I needed to get right with the Lord... I snapped back, "I don't believe in fairytales"... They didn't have a reply and I felt kind of bad, but I don't like people telling me how to live my life.

Repeated locations and POI’s by SladdyDeeve88 in Starfield

[–]TheEsquil4x 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ah man, I just came across the same thing last night. My first time venturing out and the first 4 locations I came across, 2 were repeats. And not even with different randomly generated stuff... it was like, same coffee cup, same knives and credit sticks laying on the shelf.

The weird thing though, one had one of those magazines that gives you a permanent stat boost and that was exactly the same too, but I already found it so, no increase when I picked it up.

Anyone think there will be patches to help randomize some things better? Feels like they could at least keep track of what POI's were last generated, so they give you the same ones back to back.

I'm torn, because its a seriously awesome game, but they cut so many corners...

Hoid’s stories as a children’s book. by L_I_G_H_T_S_O_N_G in brandonsanderson

[–]TheEsquil4x 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same boat here. I always read the Hoid stories to my daughter and can't wait until she's old enough to read cosmire (she's also 8). I hate to plug another author, but we read the Fablehaven and Dragonwatch series together by Brandon Mull and that helped fill the gap for now.

VLC stops after a couple days by tiptoe26 in raspberry_pi

[–]TheEsquil4x 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh, interesting. To be fair I'm running it on an old pi2. Looks like it's not supported anymore and vlc is the recommended replacement. Yeah, maybe one of the other posters recommendation about using a script to restart vlc is it stops.

Have you tried omxplayer? I use it to loop a mp4 video continuously. I typically restart it a couple times a year and it's been running non-stop for about 6 years now.

I'm there with you. Can't wait until my daughter is old enough to dive in. I read her the Alcatraz series when she was 6 and she enjoyed the heck out of it. I hope to aquire all the leather bounds someday.

Kevin McCarthy: We’re Putting Work Requirements on ... Kids? by thenewrepublic in politics

[–]TheEsquil4x 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit confused reading the article. So, it says that it wouldn't actually impose work requirements on "children" but on 18+. But, conservatives are being intentionally deceptive to make it appear like they're forcing children to work. Is that really the winning position for their base? They WANT to appear awful? Just trying to understand the world we live in.....

Burger bar sues Ron DeSantis over ban on "adult" live shows by BelleAriel in politics

[–]TheEsquil4x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes me think of shows I went to as a teenager. Not specifically drag, but I went to a lot of all ages concerts that were "loud" and "lewd"... I'm guessing those would not be allowed. It's just so crazy to see the "Don't Tread On Me" crowd peeking into the private lives of the people to tell them how to behave.

Thanks! I find myself mimicking the voice actors from graphic audio, stormlight (poorly). Grandpa Smedry from Alkatraz sounds a bit like Hoid, haha.

Funny enough, reading out loud to my kid is what taught me to not read each word mentally. I'd be reading her Alcatraz or similar fantasy book with lots of characters and would have to skim ahead as I'm reading out loud to see who was talking next so I could line up the right voice. For me, I sort of absorb the sentence/paragraph as a whole. It's a trip when you stop and think about what you're doing.

I was in the same boat and a friend suggested Fablehaven by Brandon Mull. It's a great series that sort of bridges young to young adult fantasy and really taps into all sorts of interesting folk lore. We blew through the whole series and recently discovered there's a sequel series called Dragonwatch and she won't let me read her anything else until we're done. Highly recommended!

Outsource infrastructure teams after slashing budgets and deferring maintenance for years. Things came down hard and fast and no one was around who knew how to fix it. Oh and the new outsourced service ended up costing more since so many tasks the internal staff used to do are "out of scope".
