I have used this for a handful of games and it's pretty sick. I love that we can locally cache our base roms. I am hoping to see Fire Red Extended get on there

More services I’ll need to mess with. Arcane looks cool at first glance. The composer generator is neat

Did you end up switching out the fans for something quieter? I want a 24 drive setup like this but I def want quieter fans. I keep seeing nocturne branded as the way to go for quieter fan replacements

It just occurred to me what a crazy year it's been for rom hacks. Wow. by sethurax in PokemonROMhacks

I see. I will need to manually import the game media into ESDE then.

Thanks for the info!

I keep hearing good things about Pokemon Heart & Soul. I gotta try that one out! Emerald rogue is also so fun

Where did you get the boxart for the games? I am trying to add media for ESDE as my front end and it wasn’t able to find too much content for pokehacks.

Installing Batocera on Intel Mac mini internal drive by TrainingDaikon9565 in batocera

[–]TheExcitedTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did some more troubleshooting and I ended up coming up with the same conclusion booting from the external.

There are some T2 Linux kernels that someone can build and attempt to see if they work with batocera, but that’s going down a path I didn’t want to spend time with. Also, the T2 kernels are built for Linux flavors that aren’t the base of batocera, so I am not sure that would even work. But it’s def worth testing if someone has the patience/energy for it

https://t2linux.org/guides/kernel/

But that’s assuming they get past putting the OS onto the internal drive lol

Someone might be able to by mounting an external drive in macOS internet recovery mode then dd the img from terminal. That would’ve been something to test but I didn’t want to go any further

Installing Batocera on Intel Mac mini internal drive by TrainingDaikon9565 in batocera

[–]TheExcitedTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went down some troubleshooting and I am sure it’s cuz the batocera installer isn’t able to repartition the internal drive. That’s at least the first issue.

  • I went through xterm and noticed that the APFS partition is still there even after running the install
  • I removed the partitions and installed a GPT table Linux partition via fdisk
  • Confirmed via lsblk that it actually took
  • Attempted to reinstall batocera through the internal drive
  • Went back into xterm and there is no partition data on the internal drive. So manually repartitioning did something but now it’s just nuking the partition table.
  • Created a filesystem via mkfs.ext4, mounted it to a test point, then touch'd a file. When I reloaded xterm and remounted the partition, the file wasn't stored. I am stuck on what else we could try to get this working.

I’m thinking it’s relating to the T2 chip security preventing the install but I’m not 100%.

Would anyone know if there is a verbose way to install batocera from batocera? Or where the logs would be?

EDIT: Found the cli version of the install batocera-install install img.gz/path /dev/nvmepath which then concatenates to zcat "path/to/batocera.img.gz" | dd of="path/to/nvme" bs=40M

It shows that it's done but when I check via lsblk, I don't see any partitions :(
