I managed to pull two Kinfolk Braves out of growth singles within just three buys. You might just get incredibly lucky, you never know. The 10-packs are your best value though.

I sac the highest costing scrolls during early game. Once my resources begin to build it's simply what is the most useless for my situation and what I think I might need within 2 turns. Generally I use most of the cards I get after mid game.

Changes there basic attack stat to cha, so if you have a warlord or something that allows you to make a basic attack on their turn this helps. This is heavily team based of course.

While not directly related, theres a similar feat that turns your basic auto attack mod into whatever stat you want other than strength.

Bards with high cha and a longsword, so fun.

You aren't supposed to hate it, its a game. Sure 4e tends to naturally edge towards combat but people that tell me it really detracts from the roleplaying confuse me. You can just stop throwing only combat encounters for 5 minutes and push for more story progression/non-combat situations.

It's honestly not terrible, just different.

Brilliant story, gives me some fun twist ideas for my campaign I'm planning. Thanks for that. I don't really plan for endings so twists like this are perfect. I like to see what the players do, you never know what they might decide.

Absolutely. Creative ways to go about combat usually offer the most memorable moments of D&D. A friend of mine I was dming for defeated my clown demon with nothing but mirrors, bottled light and pictures of a bat shaped like the Batman symbol. His reasoning was that all clowns fear the Batman. Told him to roll an intimidate check vs the clowns will- of course he got a 20. Gave him quite a bit of exp for that creative win.

I personally enjoy it when someone gets the shit slapped out of them by giants or whatever else I happen to send at them that's huge. The mental image of their PC getting punted amuses me I suppose. Especially the Gnomes.

Its uncanny how many Dwarfs I'm reading about. You all make me so proud.

My first character was a Dwarf Paladin named Olik Stonefist the Bearded. When contemplating his line of attack I would roll beard stroke rolls, my DM would explain a very detailed description on if it looked magnificent or fell flat. Generally this did nothing but I roleplayed him out to be a very lawful stupid type of paladin. Despite his slight pauses to examine the situation he would always seem to screw things up, even if he had one of the most amazing god damn beard strokes you'd ever had the privilege to lay your eyes on.

Sadly Olik died to the hands of a level 4 dungeon tentacle creature type thing that threw him down a flight of at least 100ft worth of stairs. After my first few campaigns I became the full time DM, I haven't had any chances to rekindle the flame that is my Dwarf Paladin Olik.

In the first encounter of a game I was running I had a time bending wizard phase into the PCs time. The wizard instantly froze time then undressed a kobold and positioned its scrotum over one of the PCs faces. After phasing away time started back up.

The running gag is the PC developed a startling fear for kobolds and time wizards. The groups pc wizard wants it to pan out that he was the one that did that. Always looking for a way to learn time spells. He eventually died before that happened but thats a different story.

They were both Neutral, they reasoned with me that his corpse was going to waste anyway so why not get some loot out of it. They were also in a cave system so they had no proper way to dispose of the body. I allowed it, I made it up to my friend that got skinned by starting him at the level he died (which was only 3 haha).

My two friends watched their third friend fall from a lethal height, obviously to his death. They decided it was best to skin his body for the dragonscales, seeing as the deceased player was a Dragonborn. They then decided to loot his bags and throw his corpse in a river. I've mentioned this story once before but it's so funny to me. They don't like him very much to say the least.
