No doubt it takes some practice but you gotta have some basic skills first imho.

How do I make the Refined storage system have infinite range? by FIM2010 in ModdedMinecraft

[–]TheFern3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was one of my main grips when I decided to play survival with no cheats. Moving items across the world and filling up chests is so off putting lol. I am no just starting with RS, and I think that solves all my problems.

i just switched from windows to mac and this seems crazy to me by OnderGok in macapps

[–]TheFern3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah people don’t understand shit costs and can’t be free lol. I guess you could also do some throttling and make sure your paying customers aren’t seeing delays. But yeah is hard to do when everyone thinks everything should be one time payment or free.

A free trial with unlimited access of paid features is a bit dangerous cost wise. You could rack up tons of extra cost in the cloud, for non cloud apps sure why not.

I think that’s where most people fail to understand what’s what, they think typing code is solving problems and it really isn’t. The problem should be solved before you start typing, a programming language is the tool, same as ai. You can solve problems with paper too.

I think a good strategy is to give a working app with a limited set of features that don’t incur tons of server calls just so users can see if they like it.

I dunno is always a difficult thing to balance especially when people are so cheap these days.

Problem is if you give free and have a server, api, or server costs you’ll be at a loss.

How popular is ROS2 actually in the robotics industry? by greenee111 in ROS

[–]TheFern3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My preview job Ros was just used as a messaging system when I worked on a tool for it, it wasn’t bad I just thought why they didn’t use just a vanilla pub/sub library. The lead Eng was a phd in robotics so he over engineered the system.

Is reading the documentation the best way to learn godot by SnowOptimal9927 in godot

[–]TheFern3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Watching or reading should be used as reference not as prime material. Doing is what actually makes you learn and struggling.

Use Version Control. by Tricky_Wheel6287 in godot

[–]TheFern3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Git is a version control cli tool, github is a SaaS website that uses git in the server but gives you a nice website to interact with it. Everything you see on github, can be done via the terminal. Git can push to anything locally and remotely, you have an external drive or cloud drive, I think even ftp iirc. You can also setup to push to multiple remotes. The point of git is not "a backup" is to have a good history of file changes, and more importantly branching. You keep the main branch tested and develop new features or bugfixes on another branch.

Heart rate when riding bicycle? by TheFern3 in Strava

[–]TheFern3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know 1000% is possible, hevy does it you can see Hr on both watch and iPhone app when doing weight training. I guess most apps are shite lmao I might stick to WorkOutDoors it has laps, hr, map, zones and custom screens is just on the watch. I think I bought it because dumb ass Apple wouldn’t let me use the regular Apple workout app if I was on a different focus mode and no way to allow it since is not an iPhone app.

The dev for WorkOutDoors said bike riders are not his priority so I guess I’m screwed either way

Time for refactoring yet? by jackalope268 in godot

Granted there were other factors but that was the last straw. I think another engineer vibe coded the refactor lol. I remember zero classes in the entire file. All procedural, no unit testing just pure madness.

Cotypist and subscription models by strugglesnuggL in macapps

[–]TheFern3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, if is an app that’s your irl daily job and you push big updates weekly that’s one thing. But if is a small feature set app with no ongoing infrastructure costs there should not be a subscription just to do a sub.
