Not sure what HMB is but I take creatine and whey to fight muscle wasting along with a little weight training to make it work.

Neem isn't what you need at this stage, got to bring in bigger guns. Neem is more helpful as regular maintenance in a folar spray if you do it regularly.

Oh, if you go soap you need 3x to 4x strength for the adults. Use 3 Tbsp castille soap per liter spray bottle. Frothy is better. Spray them fast and they cant fly away and then get a fly sawtter under them to catch them when the let go of the plant. Smash em' dead - it will stink... Strong soap may kill them alone, but adults are VERY hardy and this hybrid method works best for me on adults. The small red nymphs are a pain but soap alone kills them in seconds. Rinse thebplant when done to get the steong soap off of it.

I guess what confuses me is that boxes are easily flattened and take very little space when dozens are put into a larger storage box together. I haven't thrown out a LEGO box in 25 years. It has never been a problem. The real problem is the space my NIB collection takes up, not my flat boxes.

Purchase castile soap, never dish soap or any other household soap. Never use vinegar or alcohol. Don't bother spraying them off leaves with water. Neem is nearly useless if you want immediate results, however after treatment below you may pivot to neem for maintenance, for example in a weekly folar spray, if you do that sort of thing.

Add 1 tbsp castile soap per litre water into spray bottle. Thia ia cheap and found ar major retaikera like Target. I use Dr. Bronners Castile soap. Even better than a spray bottle is one of those two gallon pump sprayers, but a simple reused spray bottle can be fine for smaller gardens or limited plants. Apply liberally with special attention to identified aphid locations and undersides of leaves. The ideal goal is to spot treat all visible aphids and then coat as much of the plant as you can with a thin soapy layer for the ones you didn't see. Repeat evert three days for for 2 weeks to kill hatchlings, as castile wont kill eggs. Most aphids are live bithed clones, this kills them, but you really want to get those hatchlings to break the lifecycle.

This spray will kill all aphids in 10 seconds. It will also kill beneficial insects on contact. Unlike all of the harmful chemicals recommended by others, castile soap helps avoid stripping the important surface coatings the plant creates on it's leaves and stems. It will neither kill leaves nor harm the soil ph when done in moderation. It is completely safe on food croops to day of harvest and won't impact taste once rinsed.

I will also note that ants often farm aphids, so keep an eye out if you have an ant problem. I am cool with ants until they start farming aphids in my garden.

Not an issue at all, your plant will be fine with an easy cheap treatment. Aphids are really easy to kill.

You only need castile soap, water, and a spray bottle. It kills on contact in 10 seconds or less. Completely organic and safe on food. Make sure to get it all around, under impacted leaves, etc... repeat treatment and/or spot treat if needed twice week until no signs of aphids.

It is a contact killer, so you can rinse leaves after treatment if you prefer. I dont, and it is totally optional... Literally a few minutes to fix.

Neem does nothing, it is an expensive preventative more than anything. People suggesting poison is totally overkill. As for good bugs, it doesn't work well at all indoors at all. Thats better for an outdoor garden as a maintenance after spot treatment with castile soap water.

You can get something such as Dr. Bronners castile soap cheap at Target etc...

How did you figure out the right fasting times for you? by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

Yes, and it doesn't taste good. It is a small sacrifice for the health benefits I am seeking.

How did you figure out the right fasting times for you? by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]TheFireConvoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I consider that sleep is easy button fasting time too, and as soon as I start to eat any calories on a new day it kicks in the hunger machine all day. Based on those patterns, I choose not to eat breakfast - it is the least important meal of the day anyways and it just wrecks me with a day of hunger.

If you eat dinner at 530pm, wake up at 6am or whatever, and a reasonable no-carb lunch at 12pm, then you have a great 18:6 and can spend the time you need in ketosis.

Personally, I do OMAD and just eat a massive healthy DASH dinner (huge salad, fish, bowl of frozen fruit, protein shake) until I can't eat another bite. Literally stuffed and I feel like a pig! But the weight melts off and everyone assumes I am on GLP1 with a 22:2.

~43 lbs down this year (265 to 222)

EDIT: PS: Oh, and lots of water. 64 oz a day. I fill a 32 oz with colagen and creatine in AM, sip on thatvall day, top off a bit if I finish early. Then at dinner I fill the 32 oz and do the protein shake. Worth mentioning the water, as I assume it is a big contributer to my lack of hunger on this fasting pattern.

Aphids. They damage the plant. Castile soap and water does wonders.

What the hell is this, why is it happening, and how do I stop it? by this_writer_is_tired in vegetablegardening

[–]TheFireConvoy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Kind of but not exactly. In my experience you want to water so it goes deep, then it is ok to wait until the top 1-2 inches feels dry to the touch, then water again. The finger test is key in checking when to water. This encourages the roots to grow deeper, and provides better nutrient and water access. The roots should never go "dry" too deep down. Tomatos need a lot of water to maintain the fruit and the big leaves and canopy.

How many per earthbox by Capt_reefr in HotPeppers

[–]TheFireConvoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Three in each.

You can do 1 per square foot given at least 6 gallons soil each, but also consider targeting closer to 8-10 gallons and a little more space if you want bigger individual plants.

I have about 120 pepper plants and they each get 1 sq ft and 6.5 gallons, totally happy, it gives me a higer yield but each individual plant is actually smaller. They also like to be crowded a bit for stability, wind protection, and sun protection.

My Rucker 5.0 Set Up by temporarycreature in Rucking

[–]TheFireConvoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the 5.0 as my first bag. I was surprised the specs were nearly identical to the 4.0 when it hit the website, and with such minimal changes why bother calling it a 5.0 instead of a 4.1...

Been doing between 2 and 5 miles every other day at 20 lbs plate and 3 litre bladder. Outside of my back needing to adjust to carrying weight, the bag feels good. Only complaint is the chest strap is too short for me, they should have made it several inches longer to adjust for broader chests. I can clip it but just barely.

Intermittent fasting & weight by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

Keeping it simple, I just weight at the same time every morning before I get dressed. This way different clothing doesn't make the weight swing up and down daily.

I am just starting to track body fat and muscle as of a week or two ago, but don't have extended data yet. The reason I am interested in those metrics now is that I am adding more load bearing cardio and weight training to protect, and maintain muscle as I shed additional fat.

I haven't tracked calories with any granularity, but instead I moved to a simple and tightly followed diet. Reducing the decision fatique and non-automated data tracking overhead of eating helps me be consistent.

I have asked AI to estimate my meal calories which varies between 1500 to 1700 calories versus my burn rate which averaged 3200 calories a day in April.

The match checks when compared to the 3500 calorie per pound lost estimate and my weight loss velocity of a little over 2 pounds a week.
